tuning the rtek ecu
getting one soon for my T2, someone told me theyre preset, is it still necessary to tune then? im not trying to be extreme tuner or anything im going to be using the rx for daily driving and maybe take it to the track just to play around. can anyone help?
yes go to there website they will give a description of each of the versions and supporting mods going along with each..digitaltuning.com read thouroughly and call them for any questions. A+ company. also bumping your own thread in all the sections besides parts is shunned on around here.
You didn't mention mods so we can't tell you for sure.
The rtek takes the stock ECU and adds additional hardware and software so you can change the internal maps for the engine.
He has created "stock" preset maps so you can do common mods without any tuning needed.
-All 550's(stock)
-550 primaries/720secondaries(stock turbo/up to 14psi)
-all 720's (same as above but good for tuning bigger turbos)
Then you can change the settings to fit your engine. All engines don't run exactly the same. In a perfect world you would use a wide band on each engine and get the afr's perfect through out the rpm range. In reality they just make a safe map that can work for everybody.
That's the beauty of rtek. Take the stock one and then tweak till you get good gas mileage and reliability.
