They actually had a poll on this forum and windows OS was the leader. To me it would make sense to get away from an old Palm platform.
Hell Id love an Android version, but I really want afm removal.

YESSSS, afm deletion would be awesome.
i have a laptop for school, and it would be very awesome to get a program for that!!!
i love the RTek 2.1 best thing ever! i would just be that much more impressed if they made it avalible for more applications other then palm.
im sure theres all kinds of crazy program writing theyd have to do to get rid of the AFM and make the program slightly more versatile, cant wait till they do.

Huh, it is on there. I'm using a Palm V/Vx and havn't had any problems. You need to slow down a little. What is disconnecting/connecting over and over? Palm to ecu? Check your connection. What cable are you using?
There's only a couple of things that need to happen. Get the RTEK software onto the palm. Execute the application on the Palm. Plug it into the ECU and turn the Key to the ON position, not ACC but ON before it triggers the starter. The Palm should have a [] in the upper right hand corner when the palm connects to the ecu. Then tweak perameters(tune)..
If your palm seems wierd and everything seems screwed up, just format/erase all **** off the palm and start over.
From the Manual:
Software Installation
1. Make sure you have the Palm Desktop software installed on you PC or Mac.
2. Make sure you can Hotsync your Palm to your computer.
3. The PocketLOGGER for RX-7's was emailed to you when your order was shipped. The email is
generated automatically. If you did not get it, please check your bulk or junk email folder.
4. Unzip the file into a folder using Winzip or WinRar and then navigate to that folder.
5. Install the PocketLOGGER program using the Palm Install Tool software that came with your Palm.
6. Run the PocketLOGGER software on your Palm by tapping the RX-7 Logger icon from the
application launcher.
Rtek7 Initial Startup Procedures
1. Make sure you have removed or zeroed out any external fuel or timing controllers such as an AFC.
2. Remove any external Fuel Cut Defensers.
3. Connect your Palm to the ECU's serial port via a Hotsync cable.
4. Turn on the ignition, but don't start the car.
5. Turn on your Palm and run the PocketLOGGER for RX7 program.
6. Verify that the connection icon is a -[ ]- and not an X in the upper right corner.
7. If this is the first time you are connecting to the ECU, you will immediately be prompted to setup the
ECU and will automatically be brought to the ECU Setup screen, in which case, skip to step 10.
8. Tap “Tune” from the main PocketLOGGER Screen.
9. Tap the menu silkscreen button and then “ECU Setup”. Tap the “Injector” tab.
10. Select the proper injector setup for your vehicle. Stock is always the first selection in the list.
11. If your car is an S5, stop here, otherwise continue to step 12.
12. Tap the “Inputs” tab.
13. If you ARE NOT using the ATP input as an external input, (i.e. You still have the stock ATP
sensor connected, most users will) uncheck the “Use ATP as analog input”.
14. If you ARE using the ATP input as an external input, (i.e. For a wideband, etc) check the “Use
ATP as analog input” box and use the slider to select the altitude you will be driving at.
Tuning
1. Connect your Palm to the ECU's serial port via a Hotsync cable.
2. Turn on the car.
3. Turn on your Palm and run the PocketLOGGER for RX7 program.
4. Tap “Tune” from the main PocketLOGGER Screen.
5. Tap “Fuel” at the top of the screen.
6. Tap “Table” at the top left of the screen.
7. The table is arranged as RPM vs Boost.
8. The numbers in each cell represent a % of fuel correction for that particular RPM/Boost condition.
Zero is no correction. Positive values add fuel and negative values remove fuel.
9. Use the four hard buttons or the arrow icons to navigate the table.
10. While only a 5x5 table is shown, the table size varies depending on the ECU and will scroll if you
navigate to an edge.
11. Use the hard Up/Down buttons (or up/down on the 5-way) to make changes in the highlighted cell.
12. Changes are made in real-time and can only be made when an ECU connection is
established

the palm does connect to the ecu, but it does some times disconnects, causing it to lean out sometimes die, while driving..
as far as the palm to laptop; its like i said, its like it connects, looks for software then disconnects every couple of seconds.
i ''borrowed'' the T|X installer cd, and downloaded the palm desktop program.
ive deleted everything on the palm and the laptop, and went as far as to restore my comp to an earlier time before the palm, and its still acting up.
i cleaned the connections on the palm, cable, and usb port on the comp.
the only way i can get just the rtek program is to bluetooth hotsync.
the cable is a hotsync cable i bought from digital tuning
im running a vista64, would that cause problems?
im not sure its the palm causing this, it runs pretty flawlessly buuuut, it does seem to be a common denominator... i hope not i sent like 150 or so on it..
i've done the steps shown above, gonna give it another-nother-nother try lol
we'll see..

I know we talked on the phone but I'm still confused as to your issue.
If you can hotsync (meaning your PC will sync to your Palm when you hit hotsync on your Palm) via bluetooth, then there is no need for the USB cable. I know you want to update the OS on the Palm, but really there is no reason to. There is nothing but very minor updates.
While I suppose it's not impossible, I find it extremely unlikely that the Palm's connection is causing the car to lean out. Everything that has to do with fuel deliver is read from inside the ECU. Nothing the Palm could "say" would temporarily cause a lean condition. It can only program a lean condition into a map, which you could easily observe.
It's more likely the other way around. The ECU probably has an electrical problem, maybe a bad relay or connection which is causing the supply voltage to drop at the ECU, causing the lean condition, and subsequent communication problem.
Have you went through the troubleshooting guide?

ok, i will go through it, thank you
however i have observed, with the help of a passenger as well, that it does go from time to time
x to [] back and forth, and watching my wideband, a correlation between the connection and the motor wanting to stall out
