Rtek2.0 PocketLOGGER software Survey (for owners)

When viewing fuel or timing maps, what view do you use the most? (Table/Bargraph/3d Graph)

Please comment on the usefulness of each view...why you like one over the other, is there one you never use, etc.

Any comments on user interface improvements or feature requests are welcome.

The Rtek PocketLOGGER software has been undergoing a pretty major rewrite. Mostly for support of the other ECUs, but also UI and speed improvements. So if you have suggestions for the software itself, now is the time to make them.

I use the bargraph the most for fuel adjustments, havent really played with timing yet.

One problem i have noticed when datalogging is the pda will briefly display "lost connection" or similar (i forget the actual message), and the log is stopped. It may be something with my cable or setup, as it only happens on wot runs?

Possible improvements/features:
-Importable/exportable fuel and timing maps (excel format?)
-I know there are discussions about the timing/load indexes, but it is difficult to tune to a load index instead of rpm or boost index. I suppose a fix to this is already in the works?
-When you are viewing the logs on the pda, there is no marker to move across the graph to get specific values, like on the plviewer. When tuning, i have to transfer the logs from pda to PC to be able to see the values at specific rpms, which is cumbersome

Thanks for the input.

Just run your stylus across the graph. The values at that point are all updated as you move it.

What Palm are you using?

as far as new features, can an adjustable rev limiter be added, just by cutting spark above a user-set rpm?

That would be a feature of the ECU, not the PocketLOGGER software..

I get the lost connetion "X" when trying to change the timing values rapidly.

also, Is there anyway to change the timing values other than clicking the up or down arrows? I tried using the number pad, but it doesnt work. It just gets very tedious when making a lot of changes. Maybe add a slider to the side of the screen or enable the numberpad?

I get that also it's like the rtek needs a second to update the ecu or something. Also with the lost connection thing sometimes I will turn the key on and the rtek won't detect a connection. If I turn it on and off it will then detect a connection most of the time.

The new software should be more robust in the connection department.

You can use the "hard" page up/down buttons to make corrections on any table.

The reasoning behind not putting a slider for the timing table because timing changes should be done in little increments. Having a slider, its very easy to inadvertently make a large change..in the wrong direction.

Being able to use the hard buttons will be a very nice feature. It is sometimes hard to tap the little buttons with the stylus when tuning on the fly.

You already can. The hard buttons have changed corrections since the beginning. You can also use them to flip between the graph and number view when datalogging.

Does anyone actually read the manual?

ive been seeing a problem with injector duty cycle display when looking at logs. sometimes the it is doubled on the palm (for me it usually is ~35% max, it will show ~70%), but then you transfer it to pc, it is back to normal again, showing 35% max. Then i go back and look at it again on the palm and it is back to 35%. either that or i am crazy

im sure, because i have never logged d/c above mid 30's, so it scared me when all of the sudden the log showed 40-70%, but then transfered it, and it was back to 20-30

And you sure you arent confusing duty cycle and pulsewidth? Do you have the Palm and the viewer both set the same way? (to display DC instead of PW)

A mid 30s DC is extremely low.
