Rtek Tuning Issue

Hey guys! Im running bluetooth on Android, Pocketlocker 2.1.3 build 7bt (Final build).prc with the Serial Adapter posted in the other thread and everything was going great for about two hours or so. I had radio, antenna, btn, sunroof, power window, and cigar fuses pulled and was using a used 2 year old battery, read on.

I was entering the timing maps and got the leading in and saved the map in StyleTap, then started with the split and got halfway when it [x]ed out, no prob, i backed out and started pocketlogger again reconnected with bluetooth, and went back into tuning. From there I was unable to enter values, no highlighted cell but i could see the numbers. The map would move when i pressed over and up and down, but i couldnt enter values. I checked voltage (innovate wb display) and I was at 11.6! I was using the battery from my camry, its the same i checked it, Wally world Maxx-35N, but nevertheless used.

So i put the battery in the camry and drove it 20-30 min came back, put battery in the rex and volts was up to 12.6 on display. Started to tune again, but it still wouldnt let me enter values, and id eventually press back to get back to the main screen. Still connected with bluetooth, I was able to reset maps back to stock, and even load my saved leading map, and set the injectors and everything else although cranking fuel was set to 0, I was just not able to enter values, no cell highlighted. The last time i tried, battery voltage was down to 12.2-12.3, the timing map loaded all the way at the top right cells (high load low rpm). I could move through the map sideways rpm only, but couldnt toggle up or down it seemed, so i kept tapping down on the load arrow and eventually the highlighted box showed up, like it was 20 cells higher than the top of the map! I probably could have changed values at that point but then map sort of distorted a bit and i backed out. I was able to set back to stock, set my 720/720 preset, staging, etc. though the cranking fuel was again set to 0, i set it to 30ms @ 77, then turned the car off. I havent started it yet, though.

Im going out later to get a new battery, hopefully thats all it is, but how much voltage is required to interact with the maps? at 11.6v pocketlogger hung up halfway through loading the stock one and wasnt able to display it, kept saying loading maps or whatever. Anyway I havent seen this issue discussed in any threads, and i wanted to share my issue. i guess everyone gets their numbers in pretty quick, or is using a fresh(ish) battery. Its just understood to do it quickly before killing the battery :-P.

Setup if youre interested, and other questions, yay :-)
88 10th anny pretty clean, Stock port, TMIC, 720/720, BNR Stage 3 i think,
Aeromotive FPR, FD pump, LC-2 wb, Corksport intake pipe, cone filter,
Racing beat downpipe presilencer to catback exhaust.
just replaced fuel hard lines and all rear brake lines! front otw.
looks pretty and I hope it runs, I plan on using one of arghxs maps, any input on the fuel table adjustments? Im sure i have to make a few changes with the higher airflow. I never see mention of those, other than start rich and keep pulling fuel, not very specific. The last map posted by solareon looks a bit too aggressive for me, but had a fuel table included.
Im not really looking to boost past 12-14.

Have you tried adjusting the values with some of the other screens (bargraph/map)

I took a few but I figured it out, apparently there must be a few hidden cells up top. It would let me toggle thru rpm so i "lined it up" to where I knew which rpm range i was at, then hit up and down 10 or 20 times. Finally the highlight came down from the top like it was up too high. I had to do that in all the map tabs but once i did i was able to tune no prob. I didnt need a new battery, I hooked the old battery up to trickle charge (12v 2 amp, positive to battery positive and negative to a bare metal spot on the ds shocktower) while i plugged in the numbers and had no issues, battery stayed at 12.1 v. Thanks, I always make mountains out of molehills.

Now if I can figure out how much i need to adjust fuel maps...

Setting VarRes

So on the idle setup, i was able to get to the VarRes adjustment and im not sure what to put in, theres a slider for 0v-5v. it says to adjust voltage for max(?) rpm, that would be 5v yeah? Its currently at like 2.74 or something. I have my WB setup at the VarRes pin.

Another note, it idles a steady 1500 through warm up and after, and adjusting BAC screw all the way in gets it down to 1300.

Alright, its doing it again and its pissing me off. Ive had no more trouble til now.
When i get to the maps to edit, the highlighted icon again is not there, i have to toggle back and forth between rpm. The map itself moves.
Once again, ill tap down thru psi until finally the highlighter shows up, but i cant adjust values and i cant move up through the psi, only down. When i back out and come back, ill have to do it all over. wtf. Pocketlogger shows im connected.
Thanks.

Just curious if you have watched this video?

I feel like maybe you are assuming or expecting something that isn't true.

Can you take a video of the issue?

If not, please reply with:
What Palm.
Exactly what map and view are you having the issue with. (fuel or timing map, bargraph/ 3D map/ numeric table view)
I'll have more questions once I know this.

I know where the highlighted recticle goes.. all the way up to 498 psi! lol. Explains why i have to press down a million times.
If i press down below -22.4 psi, the recticle goes back up to "the top" at 498. The grid and 3D Map will only display up to 16 psi as it should.
I noticed the 498 psi cap on the 3D graph screen.
I also noticed as I went down through the hundreds of psi, there were the same values i had down below as if there were 4-5 "maps" stacked above each other up to the 498 psi mark.
I was able to finally change the values via the 3D graph and sometimes back at the table view. (I only mess with the bar if i need to make quick jumps in value.)

Im using Galaxy Tab 10.1, the first one, and the "other" Serial Bluetooth Adapter mentioned in the Android thread. RS-232 model BT-232B. I have it plugged into a power strip to the wall. *I didnt want to hardwire your bluetooth adapter, sorry. I dont think i can attach a usb end to it as your adapter needs 8-18v am I correct? usb plugs are 5v yeah? sorry im not real techie :-)*

Anyway, I have to keep a trickle charge on while i tune. It seems i have the issues when the battery voltage drops below 11.9. May be unrelated as battery is at 12.4 and im still having the same issue with Rtek.

I was finally able to set everything up and save the configuration. One more question, On step 4 of the Initial Set coupler, the slider there says to adjust Var Res Voltage to max(?) rpm? I dunno what to do there... leave it be? I have a WB o2 at the Var Res pin.

I also have options for no AFM and it will let me mess with the VE map, i havent touched either though.

I love the product though when its all going smoothly, its really cool.

I just started having this issue while entering the split timing maps as well. It has yet to resolve itself.
I was attempting to convert to "Boost Based Timing"

I was constantly getting the "Unexpected Table Size" Error.

My table traveled to 1300 psi at one point.

I wiped my ECU thinking it was a glitch when I saved it, the problem persisted.

Are you also running styletap?

Yeah, im running styletap, sorry. I mentioned it in the first post, but it is version 0.8.012.

Although annoying, it does work, if the higlighted recticle dissappears, sometimes after connection is lost and I quit out and come back to tuning, i just switch over to 3d map view and I can see how "high up" im at on the psi, on the fuel map it seems to only go to 398 or so, and i just keep pressing down. It will cycle all the way down through and back up to the top in a loop two or three complete times before the dot shows back up in the 3d graph mode at 16 psi.
