question about loading maps.
I would like to load a Map onto the Palm pilot.
Do I have to have the Palm pilot in the car hooked to the Retk in order to load a map?(key on,etc ).

you could also use a laptop to load a saved map( or a map that someone has given you.) whats your setup, 8.5:1 rotorS? what turbo?

I am just gonna copy a Map from a Member onto the Palm.
he has pretty well the same setup that I do.
My setup: Fd upper with 90 mm Rotary-works TB
750 pri/1000 sec..(currently running 750x4 until I swap to 1000's and load map).
BNR Stage 3 Turbo
Racing beat 3 inch exhaust.
Rtek 2.1 (of course).
You haven't given us enough info to properly answer the question.
If you have a spreadsheet, image, list of cell values, etc of a map:
Your only option is to enter the map one cell at a time on the Palm while connected to the car and the car ignition on.
If you have a maps.pdb file:
All maps that are saved within the PocketLOGGER software are stored on the Palm in a maps.pdb file. This file can be transferred to your PC via a hotsync. (this backs up your Palm and also allows programs to be installed). So if someone else saved a map from their ECU (which would store it in their maps.pdb file) and hotsynced it to their PC, they could send you the maps.pdb file and you could install that on your Palm. This does not load a map into the ECU, only gives you the ability to take a map that was stored in that file and load it into an ECU. So syncing someone elses maps.pdb file over to your Palm would 1: overwrite any saved maps you already had (on the Palm, not the ECU), 2: once connected to an ECU, you could load one of their maps into your ECU.
Note that if you are going to share maps with others, they need to come from the same ECU type and version in order to load.
