PDA's, I know nothing

I'm making this thread to test the waters as it were. I have an RTEK 2.0 but when I bought the car it came with an old 80's early 90's looking PDA. Transfering data drains the battery like its nothing.

The question is what do the majority of the people who use this system have for their PDA. Is there a backlit PDA that can be attached to a car charger and still be connected to the system?

Palm OS PDAs didnt comeout until the mid/late 90s.

But besides that...

There arent many options for charging while logging. It's hard enough to source serial hotsync cables, nevermind *charging* serial hotsync cables. Your best bet is to get a Palm that is rechargable.

The old Palms were not designed to have the backlight on for long periods of time. The backlight will surely drain the battery in minutes.

Get yourself a color Palm. A Palm IIIc or one of the Tungsten T/T2/T3

I would be happy with anything that is back lit and dosent have the a spinage green display. LOL I just didnt know the true market standards. I've heard good things about the Tungsten. I will most likley go that route.

I use the tungsten T3 and I really like it. It has a nice big colorful screen that you can view vertical or horizontal.

I have an Palm M100 and it is a piece of crap. It only has a little black and "green" display (not backlit) and when the batteries die, you have to resync to reinstall the pocketlogger program, which also deletes your wideband o2 calibration settings

If you hotsync every once in a while *before* the batteries die, it would store your wideband settings and logs and all you'd have to do is hotsync to restore everything.

LOL I have the M100 too and you only get about a few hours of work out of it before you have to resync. Gameboy green is the official color.
