If I were you I'd go for a drive for say ten minutes while logging and then go back home and download by doing a HOTSYNC. Then go to the PLViewer and open it.

Click on File....then open......and in open you should see the log you just created during you drive. Highlight it and then go to Open. You should now see the graph.

Now at this point is why I'm writing this post. I've gotten this far and I saw nothing on the graph. No lines etc. I even went down to the bottom and made the slider at the bottom go back and forth trying to find the graph lines. None showed up.

So I found that by right clicking on the empty screen, I got a popup with PARAMETERS, ZOOM IN, ZOOM OUT, CLOSE. By putting the cursor on Parameters, I got another popup with RPM/AIRFLOW/BOOST./TPS with empty boxes to their left. I find by clicking the boxes, the lines on the graph will now show up.

I assume you know more than I about how these things work, but just in case.....If you left click on the screen a hash mark will show up. If you put your cursor on the hash line and hold the left click button down, you can move the hash mark back and forth on the graph. When you do that the values for the RPM/AIRFLOW/BOOST/TPS will change as you move the hash mark.

I also find after having moved the slider at the bottom, I can now move the graph by using the right/left arrows on the keyboard. Like I say, most people know this, I'm sota like a newbie.

Another thing bugged me. I was making a bunch of logs to play with and before you knew it I had twenty or so and I couldn't figure how to erasse them from the computer/PocketloggerViewer. Grr.

Then it occured to me that if I go back to the Palm and delete the logs there, then HOTSYNC again to the computer.......the twenty or so logs have now been deleted from my computer. Yippie. LIke I say....newbie.

And before I forget, once you have the graph on the screen, go to the tool bar WINDOWS and then on the pull down screen go to DATA. That will give you numerical values for the log your looking at and the time they occured.

Most of this is intuitive which is GOOD.

I did not have any problems with viewing/displaying the graphs, which is a good thing considering what I went through to figure out how to get the viewer to work. There is another interesting feature available when you click on "Tools" then "Scatter". A little window opens that shows a scatter plot with the ability to change the "X" and "Y" axis.

It would really help if we could get a subforum where "turbo2ltr" and "henrik" could explain how all of this works. Also, again, it would help to have some baseline figures to compare against.

Is there a way to change how the analog input shows the values for A/F like a wideband instead of a volts readout on the PLviewer like the Palm program?

Also when I first started the car I set the ECU for 4x720cc injectors it wouldn't idle at all. It was way lean on the PLX wideband to even idle. When I set it to 550 + 720's it would idle fine, but its way to rich in the low rpm.

The injectors where flowed at KGparts in NJ and they flowed something like 850, 850, 850 and one of them was at 870 @ 3bar.

I also have to set the secondaries to almost stock so that it wouldn't stumble as bad from being so rich in the lower rpms. I originally had it at 3500.

The fuel pump is rewired and I still have the relay system hooked up but now its in the back and I also have an Aeromotive FPR. Could the relay have something to do with it? Static pressure is set 40psi at the moment.

Has anybody messed with the timing yet? Like the split timing?

I took a few minutes to actually read the PocketloggerViewerGuide and that is a helpful guide.

But on page 15 of that Guide it says POCKETLOGGER supports wideband sensors connected via the EGT temperature wire, and it says from Preferences you can select WIDEBAND.

I find no WIDEBAND under Preferences and suspect maybe I have to have something connected to the EGT Temperature wire first. ?????????? I think I need to go back and read the rest of the instructions on EGT wire. Just musing outloud.

Sorry. I need some assistance with just where the instructions are for connecting to the EGT Temperature wire etc for a wideband. Anybody know? I looked for a while and can't find the instructions and have not sent Pocketlogger a message yet. Thank you.

I thought the wideband was to be connected to the ATP. A little confused here. Nap time.

The instruction manual for the viewer is generic an is for all versions of the *viewer*. It needs to be updated as it's referring to the DSM logger when it says connecting the WB to the EGR temp sensor.

The instructions for connecting the wideband is in the Rtek PDF that came with the v1.01 software. (The v1.00 version did not have the instructions) The Rtek PDF is completely up to date and accurate.

In case anyone needs it.. http://www.pocketlogger.com/instruct...cketlogger.pdf

Under Preferences in the viewer, there is an Analog Sensor menu which is similar to the External Sensor setup in the PocketLOGGER. This allows you to define the scaling for the wideband.

95nracer: Please tell me which trace went off the screen. That needs to be fixed, but you assigned them the same colors so I cant tell. Regarding running lean, that doesn't make sense, unless you have an AFC that's still connected that's already leaning them out.

I know NOTHING about split and timing. Now that that is out of the way, you might want to read this by Judge Ito: http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum/showth...threadid=41915

Sorry that was the colors that where assigned when I first copied the screen I never bothered changing the colors like a big dummy.

The one that goes of the screen is boost and it does make it a little harder to read. I think I had it around 11psi.

I've been talking to a couple of people about timing but only briefly and I'm just now starting to read up on some threads. Alteast there is a few people I can talk to that are near me like Judge Ito, Jim from JPR and Keith from KGparts

One thing that I noticed and someone pointed out was the timing. Stock on the Rtek has the timing in the low teens during low load and low rpm then it ramps up to low 30's during high load high rpm.

I know nothing about timing also, but I'll keep on reading.

I guess that we are all going to learn (and hopefully not the hard way). Maybe Rtek can suggest some tweaks for us?

Boostd 7 asked us if we'd like our own sub-forum. It's a great idea. There are going to be more and more users of Rtek 2.0. Hopefully it will happen. It gets confusing because this really should be in the engine management forum but the thread has expanded here. It is true that the Rtek 2.0 is only for 87 and 88 turbos but still, it would be nice to see it as a sub-forum in engine management.

Just so I get a correct answer. The "base map" that the 2.0 ships with is more or less the same as the 1.7? Answer: 1) Yes, they are the same. 2) No they are different.

And yes, a sub forum would be very nice.

The base map or default of the Rtek 2.0 is different from the 1.7 in that it is basically stock. What I mean is that it is set up as 550cc primary and 550cc secondary. If I remember the 1.7 correctly, it is set up for 550cc primary and 720cc secondary. They both set the secondaries to come in at about 3500 rpm instead of 3800. In Rtek 2.0 the default also has the ATP input set up to not read the cars stock ATP. If you are not going to have a Palm PDA right away you can tell them (as I did) how you want them to set it up. It uses NVRam, which is non-volatile memory so it will not lose the settings that you ask them to use. I asked them to make sure that ours was programmed to use the stock ATP sensor.

Once you get your Palm PDA you can change anything that you want. It is really cool! We're still newbies so we're taking it slow trying to understand all of the information that the ECU is giving us.

I ask because I have the 1.7 now. I was going to do the upgrade and wanted it to be plug and play. So aside from the secondarys and the ATP it is the same as the 1.7. Same 3500, same pulls timing after 9psi, same floor clear, same etc.. ( And yes all the extra stuff it does)

Just let them know how you want it set after they do the upgrade (i.e. your injector setup and ATP). What you'll get will really be "plug and play" because there will be a serial cable coming out of your ECU now (for your Palm OS device) for when you want to change things. If you have the Palm now order the "hotsynch" cable from them. It's a lot easier to have one stop shopping.

The Rtek7 stage 2 is not "plug n play" like the 1.7. You need to set certain parameters up before you run it. If you are looking for plug-n-play then a 2.0 will be a waste of money for you.

The "base map" is the same in all the stages, BUT, the 1.7 has an additional calcualtion to lean out the secondaies for 720cc. The stage 2 has the option to turn on the calculation to lean 720s for either the primary, secondary, or both. If you have the 1.7 running 720's, then you'll need to select the 550/720 option in the software to tell the ECU you have 720 secondaries.

The timing retard is NOT in the 2.0. You have direct control over timing so you can program the timing retard yourself.

Flood clear is in there.

This info is on our website and the features are illustrated in this neat picture.

First of all, we all know my reading comprehension is terrible, so that's out of the way.

Now Pocketlogger is in colaboration with Zeitronix's wideband unit. See this page for more information: http://pocketlogger.com/index.php?pid=home

My question is, is it possible to data log from the RTEK2.0 and the Zeitronix at the same time and download the information on the same graph? Probably not but it never hurt to ask.

Like I said on the SAFCII forum a while back, If the RTEK2.0 had been available a couple of years ago I'd never have bought a SAFCII and if the Zeitronix wideband had been available years ago with the interface with a Palm, I'd never have bought a couple of Techedges.

Mike, if he asked, wouldn't you set it for 550/720 for him? Maybe, like me, his thinking is that he's not going to get the Palm interface working right away. Of course, my reason was that I wanted the car to run just in case I had trouble getting the Palm interface to work (which turned out not to be the case).

Also, is there a knowledge base that we can tap into that would help us with the "tuning" side of things?

What is the timing retard in the Rtek 1.7? Is it that way because of being programmed for 720cc secondaries? If that is true then there would be another timing change for Rtek 1.8, wouldn't there?

I would think that there is a market out there for N332/N333 ECU owners who might have 550cc primary and secondary injectors and want the "flood clear" feature. The Rtek 2.0 is the only product that would satisfy their requirements. Even if they have no immediate plan to take advantage of the programmable aspects of Rtek 2.0, wouldn't it be suitable for them? You might have to initially set some of the programming parameters for them (such as the ATP setting). Would that be so bad?

will i be able to adjust maps (manually) in RTek 2.0 for 800 cc secondary injectors ?

what are allowed changes +/- % in fuel maps?

If i select 720 in settings and use 800cc injectors instead, my mixture will be richer, but i understand i should be able to tune it down manually

That is a neat little pic. I like it.

So are you saying I should not buy your product? Here is what I am thinking. I DO WANT the 2.0. I like the data logging feature. I do plan on upgrading my stock turbo to a BNR 1 or 2, but not right away. So I believe this RTek version would be a good start. Right now the 1.7 is treating me well. My mods are 3" RB turbo back, banzi TID, walbro 255, 720 sec. I would be sending you my 1.7 version to be upgraded, meaning that if I can't figure out how to set it up(PULL TIMING AFTER 9psi) or the comm between the ECU and palm does not work I'm stuck with an ECU that does not meet the same level of specs/features as the 1.7 that I wouldn't have anymore. Hope this makes sense.

If you could "load" a 1.7 base map I would be forever grateful.
