Angry Holds idle with injectors at 550 but not 720????

Ok so My idle has been messed up for a bit and I decided to get it working today. I had noticed that the throttle cable seemed a bit weird and would some time show idle tps at 20 and would idle fine, and some times tps at 15 and well, not so good idle. I adjusted the slack on the cable today and got some really weird results when i tried to adjust the idle.

First off the tps readings at rest where all over. started at 15, i adjusted it for 20 after cable adjust. did the whole idel setup and every thing seemed fine, I was just finishing up the VR setting and I got a message saying "error VR set to 0. re initializeing ECU" I waited.

After that the car would start, I discovered that my cranking/temp settings reset so i readjusted them and got the car started. I had various problems with my temp reading being to low to do the idle procedure but the temp was 185, so I restarted the Palm. That did it. So I start the whole process again. Idle settings. Crap now my TPS reads 24%, so I readadjust it. Got the car idleing fine at 740ish, and finished it up. I noticed that it running a bit rich at idle (hadden't driven the car yet) so I went back in and re did the VR got it just about right on the AFR (it was at 13 but usually its about 13.7) and befor i got it all figured out i got the same VR error message and had to wait while the ECU reset.

I restarted my palm just to be sure, went to check the start/temp settings but they where still set to my lower p/w settings (2ms @180) and went back to doing the idle. I clicked on the injector tab, even though I didn't mean to and noticed that my settings where wrong, so I reset them to 720/720.

I went to re do the idle, again, and noticed that my tps settings where down to about 18%. So I reset that, then went to start the car. Won;'t hold idle. I figured that my BAC was outa wack for these injector settings and adjusted it upwords as the screw was almost all the way down. Set it for about half out, and got the same result, won't stay running. I went most of the way out, same thing. I reset the VR a few times to more or less voltage and tested various setings of the two. NADA.

On a lark I switched it back to 550/550 and the damn thing would stay running, poorly, but running. As I am wrighting this the idle is set perfectly and starts and idles at 750 rpms. the problem is it is on 550/550s and I have 720s all around!!!!

What the hell is wrong???!?!?!?!

PS I'm sure by now the TPS reading is outa wack too.

tps should have nothing to do with the car being able to start, or idle for that matter.. i have noticed mine does not stay set either, maybe try putting some epoxy around it or something?

as far as the 720/720 preset, my car always ran too lean whenever i tried it. Im running 750/1000 injectors on the 550/550 preset, with correction set for -17%. Idles at mid 12's AFR, stock fuel pressure. try the 550/550 preset with -15% across the board, see what happens

Well on a whim, I swapped out my TPS with a spare and it reacts exactly the same. Not that I really though that had anything to do with it.

I'm just really confused why it wont run at 720X4, It was working just fine before but it just wont run now. I had it running yesterday, and it was running really rich under boost, but i cant remember if it was at 550x4 or 550/720 so I have to see if i can replicate it.

Oh and i got A different error today. "NVRam checksum error, re initializing" +I got one that said "novalue for verres" but that didnt kill anything.

Thats like 4 fatal errors in 2 days.

So I can barely keep it running at 720/4 if I put the ver res up to full (all the way right) and it idles at600rpms, poorly, BUT as soon as I click initial set coupler, it dies. every time.

Hopefully I can test it tommorow before work, my poor neighbors are probably sick of my car starter by now

any ideas appreaciated

are you sure you dont have a vacuum leak? that would make it run lean in vacuum, rich in boost, which sounds like whats happening

I thought about that too, but then why did it hold idle with the lower injector? It ran perfectly, except going rich under boost, and my idle AFR was just about perfect. It still double check for one thought.

What firmware and software versions are you running?

Can you be exacting on the wording of the errors? To me it sounds like you are getting NV Ram errors, which is a bad thing. Thats the only thing that would force an initialization of the ECU.

OK first off I AM AN IDIOT!!!!! it was just a vac leak, and the 720x4 do work just fine now.

Turbo2ltr. I got the NVRam error for sure, that is the one that caused my ecu to re initialize yesterday. I'm pretty sure that the other error said something about Verres value set to zeo, I got it again today, this one just let me go on afterwords, but I coulda sworn that I got an error in the idle setup screen that says something about the ver res and then reset. One of my resets was while I was doing that, the other was either in log screen or in tune/ bar setting of fuel.

Hope that clearifys, if not let me know
