well im running a big *** turbonetics hybrid capable of 446 to the crank and i have a 1.7. as long as you keep your boost low enough so that you can tune it with at least an safc. and you can put larger injectors in, its just going to run a big more rich. so say its for 550/720. you might get a way with 550/1000cc's but you have to have it tuned to it. you shouldn't but them in with out any kind of adjustment.
ps im dropping in a pair of 1000s in my sec and a putting my 720s in my primary and tunning it out the best i can. and if i am too rich under boost i might turn it up a pound or 2 depending on what the wideband reads
pps you should absolutely have a wideband if you want to do it this way.
ppps this isnt the BEST way to do things but it is possible. you wont see anymore then 310-320 to the wheels???

+1 on the Rtek 1.8 or 2.1. I personally prefer the 2.1 for its tuning abilities and adjustable fuel maps. There's most likely someone selling a 2.0 or 2.1 setup/ECU in the for sale section, Its worth checking out. Otherwise its about 300 for a brand new tuned 2.1 ECU from pocketlogger.com and a PDA to run it is not that expensive depending on what band and style you get. The 2.1's allow you to change the injector sizes with the software very quickly instead of buying another ECU like the 1.7/1.8. That and the 2.1 lets you see real time data on what your engine is doing, its very useful for tuning the engine just right. You'll probably need a wideband in the long run too so consider getting one of those too. Good Luck
