13BT with Rtek 1.7 and 720's, fuel cut or something..

My friend and I just finished installing a rebuilt TII engine into a 10th annie. It has been street ported and the turbo is stock, stock IC as well. There is an open 3 inch down pipe, so boost creep is inevitable until we port the WG.

The car has cleaned primaries and new 720's with Rtek 1.7. The car has covered fewer than 30 miles on the rebuild so far, is very hard to start and runs rough down low. The engine timing is correct, we set it recently at 750 rpm.

The problem is:

At WOT in 2nd and up, car pulls hard at ~3500 rpm, ~9-10psi, all the way up until 5200rpm or so. At that point, the power noticeably dies off. With open exhaust and the afformentioned mods, the power should still be laying on thick until redline correct? I'm worried that I'm running lean at that point. Are there some things we should be checking? We just finished installing the engine so it's quite ossible we could be forgetting something. I think the turbo lags so badly because our twin-scroll isn't working, but I have no idea. I'm more worried about running lean at 10psi right now.

Do the secondaries engage solely based upon RPM or are they controlled by the metered bost as well? One thing to note is, right now the MAP is bad...it reads .87 volts at all times on the output signal. My understanding is that if it is WORKING, it will cut fuel to the rear rotor. But since it is not working, I think even afte replacing it, I'll still have issues. Also, isn't Rtek supposed to have FCD anyways?

Thanks,
Grant

One more thing, the MAP ONLY controls the fuel cut to the rear rotor right? Does the Stock ecu use the MAP signal to control timing or additional/less fuel? Does the RTek 1.7 do this? Once again, this isn't my car, I dind't buy this stuff. Thanks!

Replace the MAP and then get back to us. The MAP influences timing, not just fuel cut. I would certainly not be beating on this car with a known bad MAP. Yes, the 1.7 has fuel cut removed.

With the mods you have, you should defintiely be watching the A/F ratio. Does it have an upgraded fuel pump?

Hmm, thanks for that info. I'll replace it and get back to you. I'm pretty sure the pump is an FD unit. I'll have to ask and get back to you. Can I use a narrow band to meter this, or do I need to get a wide band?

I also think I need to properly break the engine in too so I'll be doign that wwhile I wait for a new MAP.

I'll get back to you.

As rogrx7 said "You boosted on a rebuilt motor already" and redlined, and with a known
bad MAP, were unsure of running lean but don't even have a narrow band to give some
indication?

At 0.87v, the ECU thinks that the boost is -8.5psi. Not good.

Fix the MAP, get something to monitor the AFR.

Noted. I'm also getting a wide-band and getting the engine running properly to break it in.
