What do you think it would take to get my FD into the 9s?

My current best is a 10.92, so i would need to shave off 9/10ths off my time, which is no small feat, but i'm wondering what it would take at this point? I think my current setup can go 10.7 with no changes, just being a better driver. My best mph is ~128, so what kind of traps would i need in order to get that 9.99? I'm currently running 22 psi and pump gas, but i believe i have enough fuel to support 25-26 psi.

Besides more power, what else do you think i need?

I'm definitely planning on a pair of skinnies for the front and all the safety equipment.

Its a 1/2 bridge, T88, ACT 6-puck, Stock tranny with Liberty's upgrades, Kaaz, 300M axles, 26x10.5 ET streets on stock wheels.

Zinx one of the biggest things i can think of would be to go with the rear setup that Eric ran the 8.8 4 link. With 1.40's 60 ft time the trap would not need to be as high but i would guess in the low i30's would get you close. To do it any other way would mean the trap would need to be in the 140's and a lot more h/p. Plus the weight as Eric took everything out but the steering wheel. There isn't many or any street driven 9.99 rx7 fd's that i know of. Maybe someone else will have the forumula. Good luck.

I don't really want to go the solid rear end route. I would just take the slower ETs rather than go with that. I don't think i can make enough power with my current setup to get into the 140s, well i might be able to make it but it would take upgrades that i don't really want to do at this point. I think i would be pretty happy with a mid 130 trap and whatever ET i can pull out of that.

I'm going to be using a multi plate clutch soon. I'm quite sure if you're going to get into the 9's you'll need one as well. Ernie ran a ACT extreme pressure plate back a couple years and it began to slip.

Good calls on the multi plate. I want one anyway but my current clutch is working just fine, so i'd have trouble replacing it. I think its one of those things that i'll keep until it starts slipping and then replace it.

If your weight is about 170 lbs which comes up to 2870 lbs you need about 570 horsepower to run 9.90s but there are alot of other factors involved getting the car to run 9s horsepower is just the begining.

ernie T cut 1.4 60ft time on the independent rear messed up pretty much everything else on that run to keep him out of the 9s but the rear held that pass hes also working with an axle shop to make stronger axles so i would contact him and check the progress (cheaper then solid rear)

ray wilson & ari both put street cars into the 9s back in the day im sure with there current knowledge they could do it again maybe even deeper in the 9s people are finding more power these days and better setups

My car is a bad example, my 4 link was setup wrong. My old FD should have been cutting 1.30's and yanking the tires all day long if my 4 link was setup decent.

Also, I had full interior except passenger seat when I ran 10.00 @ 119mph
