I am thinking serious about buying this and selling my project rx3 and parts. Just seems smart as I would end up having twice the amount in mine then what I can pick this up for.

So whats the safest way to buy this if I do.??

Yep, It's always way cheaper if you buy a complete car ready to go. Just make sure it's in good condition. Looks really good. Buy it.

You shouldn't have any problems doing the whole transaction. Since its a race car, you will have to ship it in a "container", since the people that ship cars require them to be in running condition (besides, you don't want them driving that beast).

You could travel out there with a cashiers check or money order, check the car out, and then have the owner trailer the car to the shipping company.

You might want to contact Trailer Bridge for the off shore transportation http://www.trailerbridge.com/default.asp

Make sure you do your homework before you wonder around PR or any other Caribbean island alone.. Crime is at an all-time high in those places. Unfortunately it's a very small percentage of "scumb bags" that makes it unsafe for the rest of us.

I am not a plane guy.... too much of a land lover. Is there any companies `that handle this kind of job? I am going to have a friend from PR phone him for me and see if he has any ideas. I know when I sold my porsche a year back the guys just paid me sight unseen/. I had the car and his money was transfered in my account.. I will not do that..

I don't think that there is any company like that in PR, I just don't see the market for it. Have your friend inspect the car, or better yet an alternate chassis builder like Gaby from GRS (Rotaryboys should be able to hook you up with his info), from there is a matter of doing the cash thing.

I asked him if he would take it to Gaby stern or another reputable chassis guy/ shop and have not heard back yet. When I sold my porsche the guy that bought it used a bank up north but they sent out a guy to go over the car for any problems. Theres got to be something similar in PR. Banks dont want to give money out on property car-boat-house without verifying.

Gaby Skern is not the Gaby you are wanting. Gaby chassis is a different person entirely. Maybe you could find out who did the chassis on the car and talk to him. That way the car doesn't have to be taken anywhere. Post up about the car with pics on the GRS forum in the English section. Maybe someone on there knows the car.

Saw that car on e-bay, seems like a good deal. Way less headaches than building your own beast from the ground-up, and as long as you will enjoy it as much go for it. Trying to do the deal without flying there though is going to be tricky...

My dad is in puerto rico right now in vacation for two weeks. If you are really that interested i can ask him to go check it out. My dad has been in the rotary world since the early 80s and he has built some decent cars himself. he also has experince shiping cars back and forth from P.R to the U.S..... let me know

If its not too far away from were he is and not too much trouble that would be VERY helpful. I really want this car but not being able to verify the chassis and condition is troublesome for me. Dont want to send $$ until all is verified.

His info is:

The car is located at 566 road km 1.0 Orocovis and my phone number is 7875181421

his name is gabriel

Thanks and hit me up if your dad can do it.
