to those running et streets

im thinking about getting a set of 26x11.5 16 and im hearing that they are unstable at high speed and hard acceleration. can anyone clarify this and i will have regular radial tires on the front if that matters

iirc, they have a soft side wall, making them crappy for street driving when you want to take turns at quicker speeds. but good for straight line.

If you run radials, it will get squirly. Non-bias and bias tires don't mix well. The 11.5's will be fine, but you'll need to roll your fenders. It will look like **** on your car. The 10.5's are fine, thats what I have.

The reason they say they are unstable at high speeds is because they have a flexible sidewall, which at higher speeds can create something called "walking", which is just the tire flexing right to left to create a walking like effect. The amount of walking is directly related to sidewall hight, and air pressure in the tires. The lower the air pressure in the tires the more flex, or "walking"they are able to induce while driving. If you are looking for something for the street, use BFG drag radials. When you heat them up, they are just as sticky if not more than ET Streets. The only downside to drag radials is they can get so sticky, they can grip just as good as slicks, but don't absorb as much of the shock during launch due to the stiffer radial sidewall construction, and can break drivetrain components or axles, but this only really applies on the strip due to the stickyness of the strip, not really on the street.
