Me too , I'm in love , really nice car , excellent job keeping swag

Doc Holiday 01-02-16 08:02 PM

Well I'm hoping to hit the track in 2016 and get the motor and chassis sorted on the motor before I install nitrous. On a chassis dyno this motor made 291 SAE corrected horsepower on gasoline. I'm hoping for about 450 when on the nitrous. The car is a little heavy, its all steel, so I hope its enough power to get the job done.

Hey Eric! I met you probably two years ago at an IFO in Bakersfield. You were there with your son and his all motor RX7. It was the first fast rotary I had ever seen in person, and I was so impressed and shocked that it still had a factory rear end! That car seriously helped to motivate me to finish mine. You were a really nice guy, most of these west coast guys are rather abrasive.

drag 7 01-04-16 10:35 PM

Yeah I remember you that's good to here yea these guys sometimes can be very difficult to deal with sometimes

ultimatejay 01-07-16 09:38 PM

Who are you guys talking about there are only three rotary guys that race here, Me, Eric and Joe
LMAO

I meant people at the track in general. Ive never met any other rotary people.

drag 7 01-09-16 03:35 PM

Your car looks good looks like you have a short header my son blew his motor nice to see another rotary car out at the track I'm going to threw a all motor car together but just for bracket racing

My header has 21 inch primaries. I made it with the idea that I would be running a lot of nitrous. Its probably hurting the power the motor makes, especially torque. My torque is the same from approx. 7500 all the way to 10,500.
What happened to your sons motor?
What kind of car will you be throwing together? Another RX7?

drag 7 01-09-16 06:22 PM

He spun the bearings rev too high yea my car is a 85 first Gen using a stock rear end my son has 12 bolt under his car now best time 10.59 at 127

drag 7 01-09-16 06:29 PM

That's a good length too go with my old race car had that my son's was a lot longer to try to make more bottom end because he did not have the right gearing now we have to make him a new header rebuild motor and surprise alot of people nice to see you got the four barrel carb to work on a port

mazda1200 04-21-16 02:09 AM

how does the carburetor works

It works great. Smooth, makes good power. It hasn't given me trouble or done anything weird. Its a lot easier to get it dialed on the dyno though. I've done it before on the street and it took me a lot longer.

ultimatejay 04-29-16 07:22 PM

When you hittin the track? Looks good

Doc Holiday 04-29-16 10:24 PM

Not really sure. The weather hasn't had good timing for when I've wanted to go. Ive tried testing in "mexico" a couple times and the T2 trans is fighting me.

Doc Holiday 07-02-16 09:39 PM

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...4db34d8de.jpeg

No more T2 trans

Tranny is installed. New mount. New driveshaft. New midplate installed. Need new sheet metal for tunnel. And remaking the header. I've been pretty busy lately, finding time to work on the car has been scarce.

sleeper7 09-21-16 01:39 PM

Can't wait to see a pass with the new trans! Nice build.

drag 7 09-21-16 01:56 PM

Nice it should run good how much does your car weigh

Doc Holiday 09-21-16 03:07 PM

Last time I weighed it, it was 2150 with me in it. Ive removed some weight, but then added some weight. Bums me out, but its probably still around 2100-2150.

drag 7 09-21-16 03:33 PM

kind of heavy

Doc Holiday 10-09-16 09:34 AM

New header and exhaust is finished.

Nice! Wow.

Can you post some pics of what the trans looks like in the car? I also have a 3 and debating on making it my drag car. Just hate to cut up a 3 with 90k miles on it.
Thx

Doc Holiday 10-11-16 11:13 AM

I will take some. The interior is unfinished currently. All torn apart. Ive been rewiring the car.

Doc Holiday 10-21-16 03:49 PM

It's all a mess right now but here you go. Still finishing up some wiring.
