Question for you, is it possible to reduce the "wheelie" height and travel? I'm thinking that if possible, it will reduce the ET's!

Yo Cris, are you guys building this to be competitive or just for fun? NHRA or NOPI?

A little bit of both. We're are going to do a couple of races next year. All depends on how the budget looks and also the rules. Right now it makes no sence competing because the rules favor the FWD's.

This is Travieso Racing's 1973 Mazda RX-3 as it does some
shakedown runs, almost wrecks, and then goes to the
War of the Imports in Orlando in December 06.

It's an All Motor car - 13B Peripheral Port.
All Throttle, No Bottle, No Turbo, No Supercharger.

It's running extremely low 10's, and should be in
the 9's for 2007.

***VIDEO EXCUSES UP FRONT***
I did not Film this video, It was filmed in analog, so I had
to convert to digital before editing, thus not quite as crisp
as I would have liked. Also, the original camera recorded
only the Right Channel for sound.

The Video is available in several sizes for different bandwidths:

***CRANK THE VOLUME UP***

OK Quality - Small Image - REAL FAST Video though...
CLICK HERE - (Hosted by Streetfire.net)

OK Quality - Medium Image - PRETTY FAST Video though.

*** THIS FILE BELOW IS SLOWER, BUT OH SO WORTH IT - HIGH QUALITY VIDEO ***

High Quality - 103Megs - SLOW SERVER <-(Here you can save it to your PC)

Remember, Megaupload makes you input a few letters, then click DOWNLOAD
and then wait 45 seconds or so,before allowing you to download the file.
Then you have to click DOWNLOAD FILE again.
The final download link might be hidden behind a pop up window.

NOTE: Mega-Upload link will only be active a few days.

After you see the video, please post any positive comments,
as I am curious to see what you think.

Any questions about the car should be directed at Crispeed.

Thanks

Wov what a car Travieso has! 426 hp on crank is really impressive (according to speed calc). One question, gasoline or alcohol?

100% VP Methanol.
Sorry. I meant 5 gallons of VP methanol mixed with 8oz of VP(RC-3) Racing Castor Oil.
Now the secret's out!

Yes it does.
The 10.04/10.08/1.29 60ft was the result of a wheelie bar adjustment.

Very impressive, nice job. I'm not an expert at drag racing set up, but aren't you losing time by those big wheelie launches? I mean common sense says to me car up in the air+ lots of drag= slowing car down. Plus the car comes down hard and bounces up and down. I may be way off here but why don't you set the wheelie bars so the car does not come off the ground so high or not at all like most of the setups I see on high speed drag cars? You may be able to dip in the 9's just by doing that?

So what does a car like this make hp wise? I'm guessing in the 350rwhp range. Just being curious......

Congrats again! 9's are right around the corner.

Thank's Chrispeed for the info! We also use VP methanol and 1.5% of Castor oil when we dynoe'd our Race PP motor last weekend. Unfortanately it made less power
with the alcohol set up comparing to the Gene Berg 54 mm carb. More on that in a new thread i'm gonna start here.

You have 169lbs of weight you can shed and still be legal. That alone can get you in the 9's. Good luck. Keep us posted.
