I am surprised you are getting 1.6's launching at that low of rpm. My car would bog hard doing that....When I drop it from 8500rpms, it does not hit rev limiter again as long as I did a 2nd gear burnout. If my burnout was not that good or it's really cold, then the tires spin and I will hit rev limiter again. My 60 ft times are about 1.55 - 1.63 but I don't have the power than the big boys have.

Just my input but between the last two post, difference might be the turbo?Maybe different injection? Michael, you might have to rev that high to biuld boost to get a decent launch, blitzboy maybe has a better turbo that spools quicker. I know to spool a large t4 journal or ball bearing you have to bounce it off the rev limiter to biuld boost, but blitzboy is dual ball bearing I think which I know will spool up off of reving lower which alows him to slip the clutch a little different. Anyways i could be way off but thats my guess.

Hey dan and Lupe have you guys considered running a powerglide or c4 tranny. I mean it would definately make your e.t's faster and wouldn't make so much of a forward to rear weight transition cuz it'll be constant boost no gear changing and no bogging.
I am by no means an expert at suspension but I just was wondering how that would work out.

Currently I launch at 4.5K and my 60fts are 1.6 to 1.7 I run Mickey Ts ET streets on FD stock rims at the rear with Petit launch kit,Mazdaspeed PPF and a diff brace with Tein HA coliovers on the softest setting at the rear
I launch at 7000 to 8000rpm depending on the track conditions, and yes, I do hit the rev limiter, but only for a split second until the tires grip and pull the rpm down to try and match the wheels, so it's not really anything to worry about.

You're definitely on the right track, but unfortunately, I have to stick with a mazda tranny per NHRA's regulations. Otherwise....it would have been done already.

Dan, when you do a 2nd gear burnout......how long do you do the burnout for? Do you have someone who measures the tempature with a laser? If so, what tempature do you want? Also, do you keep the rear suspension on the softest setting? How about the front?

There is some information about shock setting etc. etc. etc. here.........

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...2&page=1&pp=15

I think mickey thompson lists tire temp info on their website.

wow dan you and Lupe are really idols to me. You do things on a average persons budget and prove all the haters wrong, dan I've seen vids on your site and your call has the look of a car I'd catch at a car show or cruising on the street same as Lupes(I don't know if you do but they seem streetable). Big props to you all and thanks for the reply dan.

So because of you Lupe we now know with tuning a freaking (almost) stock block can make 603hp with stock 2mm seals and your was running low 10's with like 1000+ miles on it. Man people like you and Dan make the 7 heads and rotorhead wannabe's(like me I know alot about roatry's but I don't have the erxperience you 2 have) No lie every time I get ion a debate about rx7's you are some of the examples I give about street driven performers.
But 1 thing I have to ask from curiosity and ignorance is how long will your engine last if maintained by a rotorhead.

It is when you catch traction~!!! The axles are lighter and a 7'' ring gear.

i would do a degree or so on aftermarket suspension.. maybe degree and 1/2, or even 2 on stock suspension due to travel. thats just IMO... i have mine at 0 right now and it works decent... this track season i will be messing with camber a bit.
