pics of coker's on spares...

So with all the buying and returning of welds-billet specialties wheels and differant tire combo's I decided to try the Firestone coker tires on the spares. I was against it at first but after seeing them on 3 differant Supras in town (all mid to low 6's 1/8 cars). I ordered a set. They came in and looked about as shitty as I expected. I didnt even think they would fit on the car due to being 26's but they did. I still think they are 1 inch too tall but I am going to run them for a bit and see how it goes. Here is a couple pics to see what you think. I took them back apart to have them (front-back) powder coated. I am 50/50 on the look.....

Well I am going to run them for the season. I am 50/50 on the looks.. I like the idea of a quick swap and no extended studs and grinding the calipers.. Going to see if CCW can make a drag pack for the rx7.. Or I wonder if the supra drag pack would fit??

Are the wheels safe for 130-140 mph on the big end?

Wheels Ari ran 140+ and so did Adam (A&L racing) and a few others...

Tires are run on all CCW drag packs for vette's and supra's. I have scene them personally go 9.5's @ 147 and was told they have gone 170 on a certain vette..

I can not imagine I will trap over 140 ever. Most likely 130ish..

You ever get any info on that 6 point cage? They are running a group buy on rotary car club . com on one.

Thats good to hear. Can't wait to hear your results from running them. Have any idea what the combo weighs?

I put a deposit down with a local chassis guy for the 6-point. He does some amazing work. A 6-point is a small job for him so he said he will squeeze me in this month sometime.

Personally I think it looks great dude. I always liked the black on red. I agree if you get the rear wheels black too, it will look perfect. How much were tires?

Are you actually running tubes in them?

My ET streets recommended tubes but i've never ran them and the tires hold air just fine.

No tubes. CCW does not run tubes in them either. I think if they were to be street driven then tubes would be smart.

Go on vintage tire and get the firestone f560 blackwall radials. Theyre mainly used on volkswagen bugs but thats the front runner of choice for all 3.5 inch wheels that alot of people run. There 91 bucks a tire and are 22.5 high.

The whole purpose of running these cokers is to not be running radials on the front mixed with bias in the rear.

more pics

Well the powder coating fell thru so I just sprayed them as I wanted to hit the track last night.
BTW the car was way easier to control from the past runs with radials up front. I cut my best 60 last night 1.59 but spun thru 2nd. Still ran 103mph in the 1/8th. Only made one pass as it was 1 hr wait wit the crowds and the temp was already low 40's and dropping..Too cold for me..

I like the looks of the spares painted black. Picked up two spare rims last week and have been searching for tires. After finding this thread I think I am going this route. Thanks for sharing sk8world

I just finished getting my spares powder coated and the Cokers mounted. Finally bolted them on the car last night and took them for a quick spin. No problems.
