NSCRA Round 4: The Heat is On! Postponed due to Weather

Lake Worth, Fl, August 26th, 2010 - For Immediate Release
Due to the severe weather forecast caused by Hurricane Danielle and Tropical storm Earl for the West Palm Beach / South Florida area, The National Sport Compact Racing Association officials have postponed Round 4 of the NSCRA South East Regional championship series at Palm Beach International Raceway that was scheduled for Saturday August 28th and Sunday August 29th.
This decision was made with much regret, but was based on the advice from the National Weather Service and South Florida meteorologists.
The NSCRA has been in contact with meteorologists throughout the week. The feedback given was that the worst of the weather will pass through Saturday and Sunday leaving it unrealistic for an event completion.
A strong line of thunderstorms with the potential of tropical force winds will be coming through the West Palm Beach area Saturday August 28th and Sunday August 29th.
Saturday’s forecast has scattered thunder storms with a 60% chance of rain
Sunday's forecast has scattered thunder storms with a 60% chance of rain.
With this information and passed experience the NSCRA feels it is best to postpone the event as of today in hopes of saving our Racers and fans from travel and expenses with the weather looking so uncertain.
NSCRA officials will release re-scheduled event date via press release on Home no later than August 31.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and look forward to seeing everyone on the re-scheduled event date.
I spoke to Jose on Wednesday night and I think they make the right decision to cancel the event early.. Quite a few recent events have been plagued by bad weather so it's unfortunate to see the NSCRA not run on Sunday. I think everyone was excited to see the return of the JC Race cars Toyotas
It seems that it was a 50/50 gamble....
The wheather down here today is absolutely awesome... Clear skies with a high of 91*
I have learned that when the wheather forcast says 60% or greater chance for rain it doesn't rain...

BUT when they say only 20% chance it is a down pour
Either way... I respect them for making the call....

According to GRS some of the cars were test and tunning last night and weather permitting they were going to let them continue to test and tune today also..
