New project

REW street port, S480 turbo, GF101a trans, 8.8 rear end with 31 spline axles and 4.56 gears. 27x10 tires.
JW lower intake with a 90mm throttle body. 31x12x4 air intercooler. Six 2200 and two 1000 injectors. Magnafuel 4303 pump with 10an feed line. 2.5 gallon fuel cell. Pump E85 fuel with water injection.
No bumpers, power windows or sunroof. Lexan except for the windshield.

Old car was 2750lbs. Hoping this one will be in the low 2400lbs

sleeper7 07-15-17 01:22 PM

4th or 5th heat cycle, idle at 900rpms. roughly 4oz per gallon of premix

KNONFS 07-17-17 06:40 AM

Looks good and clean!

When are you planning on making a test run/pass?

13btnos 07-17-17 11:55 PM

What 2200 injectors are you using? Man that 8 second pass should be in the bag for you just by dropping the weight.

sleeper7 07-18-17 09:58 AM

siemensn deka.

Thanks! Let hope this last two months of work is worth the effort to get this thing in the high 8s. We should know early next month.

Doc Holiday 07-18-17 04:34 PM

Good luck! Should be fun! Let us know how it goes!

sleeper7 07-21-17 10:45 PM

2393 lbs with driver. Down from 2750lbs. Still running a 55lbs battery and stock windshield. Thinking these items can lower the lbs another 50lbs.

happy camper!

sleeper7 07-22-17 05:11 PM

Made it off the mustang dyno today with the motor still alive. No numbers. Just looking to make sure everything is working.
To freaking tired to test tonight so hopefully Friday night. I can't wait!!!

sk8world 07-23-17 07:59 AM

looks great and she is light now ! it's going to run 8's for sure

sk8world 07-23-17 08:00 AM

btw. I run the same Tranny but clutchless in the 1-2 and 2-3 clutch assited 3-4

Gf101a is a nice trans for the money!

made it to the track last night. Nothing big. Just to see how the car drove. 21 psi shifting at 7500 rpms. No launch. 148 60ft.
11.0 at 119mph.
it drove straight and smooth. Happy!!!!

ran to much water for that power and it slowed the car down . Three m15 nozzles. Use to run two

1.48 60ft and you werent launching the car, NICE!

Where you do you normally shift at, 10k rpms?

sleeper7 07-24-17 10:04 AM

Usually try to shift around 9300 + -

The launch was at 8200 with very little boost. Dumping the clutch. My flow control jet is now a .019. It allows the car to leave easy. The rpms did fall a bit to much because of the lack of power but usually on a power launch the rpms stay in the high 7000 low 8000 range where it use to drop to 6500rpms. It almost feels like a torque converter off the line with the small jet. Motor is happier.

sleeper7 07-30-17 08:49 AM

60ft 1.38 1/8 was 6.0 at 113 1/4 9.5 at 138
Just over 30psi. tune was at 75% good. Still to much water/meth injection.
Tune is judged by my shifting rpm. I shift by how the motor feels and pulls. Last night shifted between 7800 and 8400. That's telling me the tune is to fat. Thinking the base fuel tune is close and need to cut back on the meth/water 50/50 injection from three m15 post turbo. total 45. to around 35 total. Keep the m5 pre turbo.

sleeper7 08-19-17 10:13 AM

Got the car to run a 9.5 on the old tires. Bought some new ones and tried to put some power down last night. No luck. Had to turn the power down to get it to run a 9.5 with out spinning the tires in 3rd gear. ( bad launch, 1.41 )
M&H 27x10x15 same as the old ones. Aired to 11psi. small burn out, Maybe the new tires need a bigger burn out.
This weight reduction is very noticeable. Breaking is easier and car feels like its on rails. Might have to put the rear wing back on.?????

sleeper7 08-19-17 07:50 PM

Big burn out

1.32
5.73 120
9.004 150

sleeper7 08-19-17 08:24 PM

Just ran that elusive 8.9

and got booted off the track.

sleeper7 08-19-17 10:38 PM

Hard long path!!!
amazing what a street port and pump e85 will do. Still on stock turboII leading ignitors and trailing coils. BUT with the new car found some voltage increaser boxes. 40$ each on the leading coils only. Now the coils are pushing 18 volts  thx HC.

Congrats!!! Times are going to keep dropping good luck, have fun and be safe.

sleeper7 08-20-17 10:43 PM

Car made two passes Saturday night. 8.96 and 9.004
Also was not pushed on the trailer afterwards. lol

Doc Holiday 08-21-17 11:26 AM

Fantastic news! We admire your hard work and dedication! Excellent work dude! The motor doesn't sound like you are leaning on it very hard either.

ROTARY_ADDICT-1 08-21-17 01:05 PM

nice pass

sleeper7 08-21-17 07:38 PM

Thanks guys..
Its amazing how this car feels. Dropping 350lbs, new front tires have less rolling resistance and no rear wing. Its crazy.
The motor is not having to push as much power now. Betting around 60 to 75 hp if not more. and shifting at a lower RPM
Old car. over 9000rpms shift point and AFR at 12.
Now shifting under 8800rpms and AFR below 11. 4th gear AFR is 10.6. Was doing 35mph from 8th to the end. Now 29mph. Big difference.
You can see how soon it shifts to 4th gear.(video) Almost a second before the 8th. 4th gear starts at low 7000 rpm.

Any suggestions on a parachute for the car.
looking at the RJS 299$ from jegs.. Is that all that's needed besides the mounting brackets?

thx

Hey Chuck,

Are you full time in San Antonio these days? I've been following your building/racing for a while and never realized you were just up the road from Houston

Would love to see some pics of this thing's power plant with that S480 strapped to it.

Just a video with the camera facing the rear.

9.06 at 150mph 1.4 60ft

same pass as above video. Just a different view.

Looking great!

sleeper7 11-06-17 10:02 AM

Went to Ennis IFO yesterday. Good day! Ran 8.95 at 154.9 with a 1.44 60ft. This is with a 28x10.5 tire. Cant get the thing to 60ft like the 27x10 did. 1.31. The 28s are spinning to much off the line but allow the first 3 gears to go further down the track. IF this thing can 60ft, car has the potential to go 8.7#

Woohoo! Made it to the 8s! Nice job!

sleeper7 11-10-17 09:33 AM

Yep hitting the 8.9 at a IFO event with a big crowd was great! Cant get over how the car is running. Forgot the laptop for the event and ran two passes with out breaking out a laptop to check things out. Kinda scary but neat at the same time. Its amazing how much power a street port will produce with stock turboII ignitors and coils. Do have some 35$ voltage stabilizers for the leading coils to maintain 15 volts. NO ignition issues. Cant wait to figure out the launch issues and put some boost back in it....

Thanks guys!

sleeper7 11-10-17 09:36 AM

8.95 at 154 slow take off

Finally broke into the 1.2 60 foot times. Had to go back to the 27x10 M and a H. The 28x10.5 were just to big for the car. had to raise the rear of the car so the tire would not rub the fenders. So the rear was to high and not allowing the power to transfer to the rear wheels.

Also the motor started pushing oil the last several outings. took the motor apart and found the front plate has cracked. and one flat corner seal spring.

:O

Pushing oil how? Through the exhaust?

sleeper7 12-13-17 09:54 AM

Crank case to the oil catch can. Boost pressure was getting into the oil pan area and puking oil in the catch can. Almost half a quart on the first pass. Then the next two passes it would push another half quart for both passes.

Ohh wow, good luck with it!

sleeper7 12-15-17 08:36 AM

Long story
Got another motor installed Friday and started on Saturday. Found out the leading front rotor had no spark. So moved the trailing front plug wire to the leading front spark plug. Zeroed the trailing spark map. Disconnected the trailing rear coil so now motor is running on leading spark only. Used stock 9s spark plug to get the new motor up and running. Everything seems good now. GO racing Sunday. First qualifying pass did 9.1 at 151 Way cool! and that was on stock 9s plugs, forgot the put in the race plugs. And leading spark only. But car ran smooth with no issues.
Second qualifying pass was the wheel stand pass
First eliminating pass the trans did not go into 4th gear on the first attempt. 9.2 at 140
Quarter finales again trans acts up. Found that all the bolts that secure the bell housing to the trans came loose or off. Bolts punched holes in the bell housing from the flywheel. Also one of the bolts that got smashed around by the flywheel also hurt the rear plate... My day was over!

Bell housing

What's your guys opinion about putting a flat washer between the lock washer and surface part? Don't know why I did this since it's not a common practice for me. Bolt were in for a year with maybe 150 passes.
Usually use just a lock washer OR flat washer.

sleeper7 03-05-18 08:36 AM

Next pass more power was add and another wheels up launch.
Broke the motor bad. Not sure why yet.

The time slip shows it slowed down a bit. Tried some new spark plug wires and had mis fire in 4th gear. Reason the mph was down 20.
27 psi no clutch wot, launch rpm was 8750 at 22psi. with a .017 jet in the clutch flow control valve. Still single disc so power should be around 350whp. lol
