The 4D maps are definitely cool, but I will say that the MS3Pro has every single feature on that list and is $700 cheaper than the Elite 2500

Here's a great example of MS3Pro dome boost control (target boost at launch, boost over time) and traction control (reducing boost and timing to reel in wheel slip)

Hell of a build! I'm planning on doing something similar actually. Did you ever put this back on the dyno and figure out what kind of power its making? I'm in the process of buying my fuel system now and was looking into the Magnafuel 4303 as well, but I don't know if it will be enough.

sleeper7 07-03-18 08:53 PM

Last time it was on the dyno it made 560. And I think that was on the high side.

The 28x11.5 are hard on the launch. Making pinion angle adjustments for firday to see if that helps with the launch.

ECU choices are rough.

That thing is running great for only making 560whp.

My advice would be the Elite 1500 and to setup 2 solenoid dome pressure control and throw a CO2 bottle in there. Regardless of the system you run, the dual solenoid dome pressure control with CO2 is going to give you the best boost control possible and allow you to make very fine adjustments throughout the pass. The added expense of the pressure sensor, extra MAC valve, and the CO2 rig is not that much and money well spent.

sleeper7 07-09-18 05:02 PM

Sounds cool but not interested in CO2 boost control.

Just don’t feel like keeping on eye on the bottle?

This thread got me thinking about the Dual 3 Port MAC Solenoid configuration I'm running. It's a Push/Pull Configuration with zero CO2 involvement. Top Solenoid Adds Pressure, Bottom Vents. Here's an image I snagged off of Perrin (Subaru):

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...dfc16634b3.jpg
Shown above is the dual EBCS Pro system at rest controlling boost to 10psi, which is the wastegate spring pressure. EBCS Pro 1, is blocking boost diverting it through EBCS Pro 2, to the bottom port on the wastegate. The top port on the wastegate is vented to atmosphere through EBCS Pro 1.
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...22dc976b59.jpg
Shown above is the Dual EBCS Pro system energized increasing boost beyond 10psi. EBCS Pro 1, is allowing boost to pass through to the top port on the wastegate. This pushes the wastegate closed. EBCS Pro 2 is now blocking pressure getting to the bottom port and relieving pressure from the bottom port on the wastegate. This applies all boost pressure to only the top port keeping the wastegate shut completely.
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...8a0fd2b8b8.jpg
In this example you can see how this method is very powerful. With a properly designed wastegate with large diameter diaphragm, this can turn a 5psi wastegate spring into one that acts like 30psi! Add to that a very flat boost curve. On this Stage 2 (stock turbo) STI, we are NEVER able to get more than 1BAR / 14.5psi at 6800. With a proper actuator and the Dual EBCS Pro's we were able to hold 1.25BAR / 18psi at 6800. The best part is, there is even more boost to be gained!

So Haltech Elite 2500 w/ Dual 3 Port MAC Solenoids. ;) Gives you three stages of injection, 4D tables (flex fuel yay!), and allows you to go as simple or as complex as possible. Of course, buy through Chris @ LMS-EFI too. ;)

Hey, there's always really high end options like Syvecs S6+/S8 and Emtron KV8. Here's my thread on the Emtron: https://www.rx7club.com/engine-manag...hread-1124954/

THe 28x11.5 are working good. Only made a few passes, no tire spin in 3rd or 4th gear. Broke 3rd gear dog ring while shifting into 3rd gear. Replaced it with a HD ring. With the 27x10 I noticed the tires would chirp when upsifting. The new tires just grab and go. two passes. 1.39 60ft 9.2et. and 1.48 60ft 9.4et at 150mph. And running a lower boost. Also have to find what the tires like at the launch. Did have one good launch. 1.31 60ft but that was with the back wheels.

2Ligit,
Car did make 560hp the last time it was on the dyno. BUT that was at 7200rpms and at lower boost.
I like the RX7.com hp calculator. I think its really close. 2400lb. 3 shifts. 8.8 at 156mph. 27in tire 4,56 gear

sleeper7 08-11-18 08:09 AM

Please get a good neck restraint and properly mount your seat belt. Get some kind of Hanse device. Don't matter how slow the car is, get one. Lucky I have a hard head!!https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...fada755dae.jpg

Shit. Sorry chuck. Glad you are ok.

craaaazzy 08-14-18 03:58 PM

wow, glad to hear you are ok. time for a new chassis?

krazy4 08-14-18 04:44 PM

Sorry to see that! Glad you're ok!

KNONFS 08-15-18 08:46 AM

Ohh wow, sorry to hear/see that Chuck! Glad you are ok.

sleeper7 08-15-18 07:13 PM

Thx guys..

See what had happened.
The new tires seemed to have stopped the wheel spin in 3rd and 4th gear. BUT on this test and tune night I was the 4th one down the track. Launch great. 2nd gear pulled hard. Hit 3rd gear and that's when things went side ways. Spun the tires and it pulled left. Over corrected and it went right. Still full throttle. Let off just before it hit the wall.

Broke my fiberglass seat. Shifted 5 inches and that let the shoulder harness rub my neck. Left a good bruise.

Cars totaled. Time to build the RX3. lol

Lived to race again. I have no doubts you'll be back in the saddle and at it again soon. Looking forward to seeing what is to come.

WOW, any idea why the tires lost traction? I am guessing you were somewhere around the 900ft mark when this happened?

Gilgamesh 08-16-18 03:02 PM

How is the car totaled?

I mean is the frame pushed over? other than that i would think its just body panels and broken suspension pieces...

sleeper7 08-17-18 08:39 AM

I shift into 4th gear at the 8th, roughly 125mph. So 3rd gear around 600ft at roughly 90mph.

About the car.
From all the wheels up launches ive had to adjust the chamber a few times. Drilled holes in the upper shock tower. The alignment was good when built. So there are issues there.
When it hit the wall it pushed the nose of the car over a few inches. The shock tower had 3 inches of clearance from the turbo. Had to pry the blanket off the turbo with a pry bar.
The A pillar is buckled. The A pillar was a inch from the cage and now they are touching. And the cage was a inch from the glove box. Now the box wont open. The bottom of the door sill is wrinkled.
Crazy one is the rear hatch had to be opened from the inside. It would not open with the key. It use to open easy. Turn key and hatch would pop open.

For me it would be easier and cheaper to get another chassis. Learned a ton from these builds and think the next one will be better/different.
The cage is mostly bolt in. The rear end use the stock chassis mounts.

Nothing like first hand experience, good luck with the next build, keep us posted on the build progress!

How is your body adjusting to the aftershock trauma?

sleeper7 08-20-18 09:20 AM

Neck was a little stiff for a few days. Noticed a bruise across the right side of my chest where the seat belt caught me.

This is the second time I've had a mishap on the track. Boss is mad about that.

i personally remember the 1st mishap... I was less than a couple feet from slamming into chuck at approximately 100mph.
im glad to hear your ok chuck and no doubt you will be back with another rotary hot rod. Be safe man

stokrx 08-22-18 02:27 AM

Bummer!

Great to hear your ok. You'll be able to rebuild another 7!!

Rollers are fairly cheap in the US, so hook in!!
