My Pinks Experience and New Personal Bests *Pics and Vids*
I thought i would write up a large post from start to finish of Pinks: All Out, Indianapolis.
I met up with about 10-12 other members of a local group. We rolled over to IRP's main entrance. We waited about 2 - 2½ hours, i think, but the line moved steadily. Here is a short vid of the lines and everyone ready to go.

We waited on each other right after we made it in so we could all pit next to each other, which was awesome over the two days. We were all in the grass too which makes it much more comfortable. Heres a few pics of our pits:
We were called up to tech based on our numbers. I think we were all in the 230-240 range. I think we actually went to tech early, but because so many of us went, we convinced them that they did actually call the numbers. So, lucky for us, we didn't have much of a tech wait. Tech was simple for me, they didn't even open the doors or the hood. I was a little nervous about the battery in the back without an external cut-off switch. Some other guys weren't so lucky and had to get bumped back a class. The classes were assigned to you based on ½ second intervals starting with A as the 12.50-12.99 class, B as the 12.00-12.49 class and on down to J which was 8.49 and faster. I was E class, which along with F, had many more racers than the rest of the classes. Tech was held in the pits of the Oval track. As we were leaving, they had the oval ½ full of cars waiting to tech, so I'm glad we made it when we did.
After tech, it was more waiting until out numbers were called up to make a test pass. I was fine with waiting here. We couldn't have asked for better weather and we just hung out in the pits and relaxed.
My first test pass was a 10.81 @ 128.49. A pretty good pass for me. I was happy with that and decided not to make the second pass. Well, when the opportunity came around for the second pass, they announced that this pass would be used as a qualifier if there was rain in the morning. So i went and made another which was a 11.00 @ 122 missing 4th trying to flat shift. 60's were off by only 1 thousandth. After the second pass it was getting late. I looked at the time and it was hard to believe that it was already 9:00pm. I drove the FD home after stopping to get some gas.
Woke up Saturday morning and drove back out to the track. We had a drivers meeting at 10:15. Rich came out and went on and on about ****. The dude has a lot of passion, but he brings it out in a somewhat annoying way.
After the meeting they called the cars up by class starting with A. Lots of waiting again, psyching myself out. I had kind of figured out how to handle the pro tree in the FD. Stage the first light, start revving pretty high, stage the second light. As soon as it comes on, bang the limiter and let go as soon as the yellow comes out. My first qualifying pass was a personal best for me. A pretty good pass all around. I think i bested everything but my 60'. However, i was running a bit more pressure in the tires because i didn't want to break anything. Here is the rundown of the pass:
60'.... 1.540
330... 4.439
1/8.... 6.844
mph.. 104.35
1000.. 8.904
1/4.... 10.660
mph.. 127.67

The second qualifying pass was with Rich's arm drop. I had to go up and watch a few to get the hang of it. While waiting in line there was a **** that kept eyeballing me and giving me shitty looks. Probably some import hater that thought I shouldn't be there. Lucky for me, I lined up next to his Firebird.
Rolling out the burnout with Rich looking back at the car.
It must have been a good previous race, he has his arms in the air.
Start! He actually jumps in the air when he drops his arms.
The Firebird did get me on the arm drop by 4 hundredths. Rich is probably yelling something right now.
DB Firebird still ahead merely from RT, the 1.3L rotary out 60ed him. My 1.539 to his 1.555
He gained a bit back by the 330, but only 7 thousandths.
The big turbo is starting to put the hurting on him by the 1/8th. My 6.862 to his 6.890.
At the 1/4, i had him by over a tenth. My 10.721 to his 10.845. The pic was just before the times unfortunately. This is my second fastest time after the pass that morning. The MPH actually got slower, i was just driving the wheels off it.
Back in the pits, many other IHP members, friends, and family showed up to hang out and have a good time while we waited for the numbers of the 32 to be called. Unfortunately, none of us made it. I was fine with that. I'm not a bracket racer, and that's what it takes to win Pinks.
Quite a few IndyHP members in front of the FD posing for a pic.
After the first round of eliminations, the bad weather was heading our way. I only had my ET streets, so i hurried up and packed up the FD and got the **** out of there. I still got caught up in the storms which completely sucked. One of the worst driving experiences. 30 MPH on 465 with the blinkers on. I made it home fine, all stressed out and worn out.
