KAAZ diff strength
KAAZ diff strength
I have been looking for a cheaper way to have a solid diff for drag racing/street use. For the longest time i had the granny' ford 8.8 in my head to put in the FB. then i say some threads that people had KAAZ diffs with the REspeed moser axles. doing it this way will safe a bunch of money, its just will it hold up to a 13B making 400whp and some drag radails or should i just stick to street tires?
Whats with all the sixes???
go to your local junkyard and buy yourself a $100 8.8 housing.... take it to a machine shop and have then trim off 1" from either side to get a total length of 57 inches.. also have them cut off your old brackets from the mazda rear and install it on the new one.. call up jegs or summit and order a set of custom length axles and get a decent posi unit while you're on the phone.. get a set of gears if you can afford it, it will save you money later on
reassemble your rear & bolt it in.... that should be it, $1000 is a good ballpark
or
search for a explorer (96??) 8.8 that came 57 inches in width & 31 splines axles.. you need new brackets & you're done

The kazz has held everything I can throw at it. That coupled with the new axle/hub assemblies the Driveshaft shop makes, I havn't had an issue with it yet. My best 60' thus far is a 1.41, which isn't shabby for an IRS 2855lb car.
