Getting a FD lighter?

So my car weight is 2490. I had to run 15gal of gas to help on fuel starvation so maybe more like 2590. Add me and its 2810 then. I do not have power steering or ac. I do have full interior and I dont want to change that. Any ideas on areas to shave weight?

You could hire a jockey to drive it. There is 100lb right there! I would volunteer but i weigh about what you do.

I need to sump my tank and drop 10gal right there= 100lbs.

I guess in the end I just need to up the boost!

Its funny how things change. Now I really want to see a 11X trap in the 1/8th. I used to not care too much about trap speed just et. I have hit my goals every year so this years goal's:

6.1-6.2's in 1/8th and 112-115mph! So thats .15 and 4mph I need to pick up.

Why don't you go with a small fuel cell and eliminate the factory tank all together.

I could. I just hated to swap fuel set ups. What external pump would you say? I always get scared on the A1000's!

I would love to put it in the rx3 but I couldnt stand to see the FD heartless!

I have always like FD's with no rear wing for drag racing.. The look is better. But whats that going to save me, 2 lbs! I can still pull the front sway bar.

if you can have personal man time with your car on a hoist you'd be surprised what random crap you can slice out of it , i do it regularly, and each time i find something else i can chop chop,
I know yours isnt a gutted track car like mine but there is heaps of **** that is just tacked on their from the factory that isnt being used for your option .

Windows, do the rear and sides if you can, take a pair of sample side glass to a plastics maker and get him to shape and mould your side glass in a plastic form, so you can still use your winders, i have it done, but now im going to ditch the electrics and go tack on plastic sides
The rear glass on my hatch got the flick, and i drilled the frame and ditched the wiper motor , i lost 26 kilos or 57 pounds just on the rear hatch , i know our cars aint the same so its only a roughy guide
Get yourself a spare rear hatch and butcher that one if you wish and become good at swapping it out .

Lift your carpet and remove the under felt, while your at it dry ice the sound deadener , i also took out 40 pounds just in deadener and carpet .

if your even more keen remove your door trim and cut the pucker out of the inner door skin, refit door trim and no one is the wiser , except us haha

I don't really know if the fd has a big spare tyre well like the Fc , if so cut that out and flat floor it with some thin tin work, the fc spare wheel tub lost me another 30/40 pounds .

also remove all heat shields under the car , you wont notice anything , if you can afford it as well get your exhaust made with thin wall pipe work, or make a flanged slip on side pipe, heaps of weight to drop off, don't forget a tune with the side pipe

Ditch all plastics, inner guards covers an ****, it all adds up

Any cooler pipework should be aluminium, staino is weight for no reason .

remove all sway bars the front is a no brainer, but im at odds with the norm on the rear, the fd fc has a integral engine/box/diff to the chassis , so after studying a few chassis lectures i have decided to not use the rear sway bar, 1.32 60ft with no hp is good enough for me so far . we will see how it goes on that theory .

remove underbonnet felt if you have any
rip everything out of the trunk

ive got more but my brain has frozen, ill report back soon haha

EDIT ps i also have lost 37 pounds in the last 6 weeks too , boo yah ,got the same to go in the next 8 weeks

PPs im running the aero eliminator series pump for two years now, just fine hasnt skipped a beet , i would pass on the 1000 series, its a bit small for my liking on a rota

Mike, A1000 are junk. Just use dual Bosch 044s in tank.

I am more than happy with my twin supra intake set up. But if I was to loose the tank and add a small tank in back to help my fuel starvation on launch issue then I have to go external or can I rig up a twin pump inside.... Jmmmj. A small 5 gallon would be perfect! Between the 15 gallons I run now and the tank I bet I would shave 100lbs!

i'm not a drag racer, but the sway bar only "works" when the car "rolls", if the car is just squatting all the rear bar is doing is potentially binding in rotation.

in other words, it's probably not doing anything beneficial.

I removed my front sway bar, and then removed the back but it was not fun driving to the track with the rear sway bar removed so I put it back on and cause it's fairly light. The front one is heavy.

I removed my front before but didn't notice a difference. I did still have the upgraded brace still on but it doesn't connect to sides. I will pull it again before next time out. Would like a Dan s. Wheel up
Photo!

My problem from my launch is it bottoms out after launch and bounces back up. I could use a stiffer spring. But it's been my best set up so well see. Going to try a tad more boost along with no lift shift and see if I can go 6.20's! Maybe next weekend.

Jic way stiff coil overs
Touring model spring/ strut combo but jic's up front

Beefy, thats the reason for the tranny work I had done. The faster and higher the rpm's the easier it shifts. I am fine at practice but game time I still seem to lift on the throttle.

Can't complain much about that kind of 60', that's for sure! I'm gonna try OEM spring rates w/ Koni's when I get mine out this year.

You weigh 3110 at race weight? It's that huge turbo?

I have no cage, r-1 model minus minus ac power steering, mini battery. That's it.
