E-shaft flex

Well I'm over putting a PISTON engine in a rotary powered car!Got to love the rotary!?!?my latest damage/problem but not the first time is rotor to rotor housing contact.this time it made contact with the two rotors on the non gear side next to the combustion chamber, with some slight contact at the apex seal area all the way across this area, kinda odd with full contact at the apex seal area and only the non gear side combustion chamber area of the two rotors.E-SHAFT FLEX OR ENGINE TWISTING?I have clearanced the rotor face to give a little more "wiggle" room.let's see what happens this Saturday at California speedway Fontana?!?!What can one do to eleminate this problem?

Hey Chris, I heard the city shut Fontana down because some flower sniffer complained on noise pollution. I heard this from two different people. Can anyone confirm?

That's kinda of what I heard, they will still have a limited amount of events.I went on the web site they have 11 street legal events 9 actual races and two JR dragsters events.a few events but are trying to limit the noise for the complainers, you have a plate on your car and if it's insured you can TNT at the street legal events,I am going to drive my car there Saturday morning and see what happens

Man it must suck to drag race in California? The tree huggers are getting their ways.

bouncing off a rev limiter? how high are you taking the revs? you can clearance more but i think most people would rather know what causes e-shaft deflection, if that is the case here.

usually if the engine is twisting you will wind up with broken dowel bosses unless it is pinned, which may allow it to still twist to a smaller degree. possibly still enough to cause interference, but to be sure of this isn't very easy to diagnose.

8500 rpm,hit the rev limiter once or twice,No broken dowel pin bosses,I think it's E-SHAFT. Deflection is because of to much timing, because peak cylinder/rotor housing is 40 degrees after TDC,I believe I had way to much timing in it,I had as much as 26 degrees BTDC AT 8000 rpm,the E-SHAFT deflection is because I had fired the fuel way before peak cylinder pressure would occur,I took a lot of timing out of it so let's see what happens Tomarrow,I have done all the tuning myself so it's trial and error,if it's true (I found this info on the Internet)peak cylinder pressure for the rotary should be 40 degrees ATDC.in a piston engine peak cylinder pressure should be 15-20 degrees ATDC

if you're running E85 i don't think that timing figure is really much of an issue.

you may want to have the rotating assemble balance checked. factory machine work is not perfect so if your front or rear CW are off by more than a few grams then you will have deflection no matter what. are your rotors weight stamp matched? physically weighing each rotor isn't a bad idea either.

The fact that the fuel used doesn´t detonate doesn´t mean that its wise to have peak pressure where is almost zero leverage against e-shaft.
