Cris I think the old me would have handled this a little different LOL and you are 100% correct when you say we never stop learning. The time off really gives you a chance to take a step back and really analyze things instead of being so reaction oriented and mask things to make the next race.

As far as wich one is cheaper I have found that my initial investment for the 4 cyl is a tad more but in the long run running a full season they end up being about equal in price.

I will answer any question anyone throws in my direction I feel it is my responsibility to do so even if they are a little agressive

Yes i did race a 13b in my old car wich was a 1993 Rx7 wich i loved very much LOL It is where i ran my first 14 13 12 11 10 9 8 and 7 sec passes. I still build rotary engines for some race cars and also 99% of the cars i tune are rotary. So i have not left the rotary comminuty at all just dont have on in my race car. If anything i feel i have helped the rotary community more recently since i have had the time to share some of my experiences with many racing them via phone or email where i did not have the time to do that in the past.

To answer why i no longer race a rotary engine in my drag car i had no choice. There is nothing i enjoy more then being at the track with my friends and the new car with the new engine attracted more sponsors then the same car with an engine that did not come in the car from the factory.

So i switched to keep racing cause i could not afford to run another season completely out of my own pocket. In the end i am happy with my decison cause i feel i am more rounded "Mazda" Tuner / engine builder cause if you need me to i can build you 7 sec Mazda 13b or a 7sec Mazda 4cyl.

Yeah, I'm sure and I think I asked a legitimate question. I guess I'm the only one that thinks it's wierd for a person to post a vid on a piston drag car in a rotary drag forum. I can appreciate piston and rotary engines and like them both I just thought the post was a little out of place is all. Dee great run nevertheless and I hope maybe some day you come around and build an rx7 or rx8. You obviously know your stuff and we need more guys like you to support the rotary drag community.

I have to put my two cents in this... I had a long talk with Dee a few months ago. And he explained to me the whole engine program of the 2.3 and I got to tell you , me being a rotary, I was very impressed on how far they have come so quickly that it almost made me want to jump on the same bandwagon (Why not?) and mainly because of engine reliability and less time taking engines apart as well as more racing and LESS wrenching at the track. And then again looking at the rotary we have also come along way with more parts becoming available and probably the biggest add on has been the 2pc E-shaft and better apex seals and the long stud bolts that can actually keep these motors together. All in all I think we are moving in the right direction. Much respect for Dee and his crew for being succesful in running both piston and rotary. Keep up the good work!...

Don't go to the dark side.... The piston community already has enough support. You have to run what you love. If your love is pistons then by all means race a piston motor. If your love is in the rotary then stick with the rotary. Like you said the rotary has come along way and it is only going to get better. Yeah, the piston engine is cheaper and probably more reliable but do you want to be just like all the other guys out there and take the easy way out? Or do you have that rotary love? How many years did the Harley Davidson motorcycle drag bikes get their asses kicked by the japanese bikes? Now look at them. I don't know about you but I like to be different from all the rest. Everyone and their mother is running a piston engine- great. That's why I run a rotary. To be different from all the rest and I just love the sound and am amazed by how much power they can make. To each is own. Ok enough rotary pep talk. Lets get to racing!

He has had success with the rotary. He ran a rotary before and went to piston, but he still has the love for the rotary and he's never denied it. I don't think it's about being different but there is something about strapping yourself down in the seat, putting on a helmet, hitting the start button and the rush of getting down the 1/4 mile and seeing that time slip and trying to figure out how much faster you can go on your next run. but your right enough rotary pep talk...let's go racing!!
