here we go again.. umm mazda experimented with rotor bath profile in the late 70s and developed 12a LDR bathtub rotors for a reason.. the rapid rise in compression works well to burn out lean mixtures with poor distribution .. hence the lean burn rotary
.. and the rotor bath is in the opposite profile to that butchery

its also a well known trick by some racers to chuck them in opposite positions and so have them as TDR.. as in the video .. this reduces the rate of rise of compression in the trailing area of the bath to control detonation .. by making combustion less efficient and thus less fuel burns in effort of moving the crank,, but later in the exhaust

its also well established that mazda worked in conjunction with the plug makers to develop the surface discharge plug .. and the slotted surface discharge plug .. one of the main aims was to reduce loses across the plug hole without compromising the flame exposure

mazda moved to get all the fuel to burn in a time where it will do work at the crank ... the video claims lesser exhaust temps but i would also guess at a lower HP and much higher HC as all the efforts have been to reduce burn efficiency

i'm still thoroughly impressed when he flips that rotor over to show the modified rotor, i don't think i could ever go on an interview with that thing and expect anyone to take me seriously. i'd make a cardboard rotor first.

i still wonder how he installs his leading spark plugs through the housing legs.
