Ahh Popped my Driveshaft Cherry at the Track
Finally after approx 100 passes on the strip I have snapped my first stock driveshaft
The cause several reasons, main reason I upgraded to a triple plate OS Giken after you guys felt my twin plate clutch was slipping in 4th after the video I posted last time I was out.
So first pass of the day for a shake down run set controller to my 14 psi boost setting, woah hitting boost cut (Boost cut set at 22psi on Motec) all the way along the 1320 only recorded a 12.1 @ 117, looked at the peak reading on the controller I hit 25psi
My only conclusion I was always slipping on the old clutch and losing power. So set my controller with much lower duty settings, guessed for about 1 bar this time.
Go for my second run , bingo , hit a 10.7 @ 128 mph at only hit 14psi boost, the clutch and tyres gripping like a bitch.
Dial about a bit more duty on the controller go for another run, god damn it hit boost cut again peak boost 23 psi which bogged my launch and wrecked my 3rd gear pull only got 11.1 @ 126
Adjusted the controller where I should get 20psi ,go for a fourth run, I choose the right hand lane, ProMod cars have been running in this lane all day running low 7s and laying down a lot of rubber and the track guys have been putting down glue as well.
Got the biting point correct held the handbrake built about 6 psi on the line, then launched, my god it was the hardest launch I had ever done, the car lept no wheelspin, then bang! snapped the stock righthand driveshaft damn Im sure it was going to be my best 60ft PB lol
So the Stillway Chromoly shafts I have are going on for next year. Enjoy the pic
