You guys are going to love this!

New shop opening up in January in Washington state. The name is AIM Performance. They do custom bodywork and performance. In other words, if you can't find it, they'll make it for you. My cars goes in January for a complete make over, including 99 Mazdaspeed body kit, with a custom carbon fiber hood, fenders, and they're remaking the front bumper out of carbon. In addition to that, they're going to add scissor doors. Anyway, they'll keep all the molds from my body parts, you guys will have access to these parts for your FD's. If anyone is interested let me know, I'll post the shops website as soon as it's up. For now just email me at:

I work at an AIM in WI. It stands for Advanced Import Mototsports. There are two others that I am aware of. We have been around for over 2 years. Good luck with your car.

Holy crap! Scissor doors! I heard that was a really expensive conversion. Some outrageous number like $20K (I think it was the RE Amemyia custom, built a while back). I heard that they had to reinforce the body to support the weight of the doors and the torque applied to the body. Any comment on how much the doors are going to run? Any details on what they are going to have to do?

Definitely keep us informed. I would like to see some finished product.

An import shop in WI for two years?
Where is it and how come I haven't really heard anything about it? If you guys to the same type of work as the one that he is talking about I would be interested to take the necessary road trip to see the shop and chit-chat with you guys...if at all possible. E-mail me: jbellz28@excite.com and let me know the details of your location in WI

Yes, the stock doors are WAY to heavy, so we'll be using some carbon fiber ones. Don't worry, I'll be posting a ton of pics of the whole process from beginning to end. The car will probably be in the shop for about 3-4 months. I'll probably get it back when it stops raining here in Washington. :p

Yeah, I have to buy the 99 Spec front end, and then he's going to make some molds into Carbon. When the molds are done you guys will be able to buy the Carbon one. We were thinking about trying to make a one piece removable front clip, seeing as how it's so short. Have to figure out a way to make it openable without removing it from the car though. Probably just end up going with the carbon pieces to keep costs down.
Anyway, I'll keep everyone posted on the making.

No kit for scissor doors exists...all custom work to date. Maybe the shop that is doing the job to Dan's car is going to put something out. Won't be cheap. CF doors + hardware + ??? I would be surprised if it is 100% "bolt on".

Talking Damn!! You must have madd cashh

Bro, you said your getting scissor doors? You also said since the weight of the doors are heavy your going with carbon fiber ones? I heard just the CF doors are in the 5-10,000 dollar range each and the massive custom scissor door work is like mmaragos said, about 20,000. Thats like 2 3rd gens in descent condition! Your Rich, getting a damn good deal or just crazy. LOL...If you do get this thing going and get everything you say I would love to see it though.

I work in the powersports industry, so I've got a few connections here and there, and that is the trick. The doors would be that much, but the guy who is making them for me is trying to get into the import market and needs a show car. And to top it off, he's the guy who did doors for the Vector M12 cars. (yes I can prove that if you want) Second, the guy who is doing the paint and other body work is my best friend, so that helps out too. And don't worry, as soon as I start this project I'll post pics as soon as I get them. Like I said, these are the plans, but I have to drive down to portland next month to see if we can make it all possible for a reasonable amount of money. I'm sure the whole thing will cost around 10-15k, but we'll see.

oh, this is the shop I work at if any of you guys happen to be into Motorcycles, ATVs, Karts, or Snowmobiles.
