i just bought a used kit, so I'm out. However, I will help anyway I can. The guy I bought it from has some interesting things to say about the "stock" setup (460cc injectors and stock pump. In his test, he said that at 7 psi boost, the 460 injectors have to pump out 81 psi of fuel pressure. the pump is maxed out at 70. With 550 cc. injectors it goes down to 66 psi of fuel pressure. This is why he is recommending 550 cc injectors and an upgraded fuel pump. I think I would rather err on the side of safety.
He also stated that the Paxton FPR unit isn't tuneable enough, and is recommending a Vortech Super FMU (~$269)
As far as the 6 ports opening, He ran a vaccum line from the throttle body to the nipple on the ports. They activate at 2 psi, which also happens to be around 4000 rpm!

Is the Goodyear belt you specified for running with the air pump? I have a few items that may help bring down the cost a bit, so let me know what you think.

Who did you buy your kit from?

Yes, that goodyear belt is with the air pump. (I'm a semi-tree hugger, still pass emissions.) And you're doing exactly what I wanted guys to do, find the parts as cheap as you can.

I have a concern about opening the six ports off of manifold pressure. In 5th gear @ 60mph, just cruising on a highway, if I get on the gas it'll easily jump to 2psi, but at very low rpms. I would think that opening the 6ports that early would cause the motor to bog down, but I've never tried it myself. I'm still running mine off my high-flow cat.

If you've done any other mods, intake or exhaust, you will definitely need the 550cc/min secondary injectors. Good luck with your install, and if you have any questions, let me know. Welcome to the supercharged world!!!

I bought it from Travis Shrey. I should be arriving at the end of the week.
He is sending me 2 belts sized to run without the airpump, but like you, I am semi-treehugger.
Interesting thought about the six ports. I guess I'll have to experiment!

I like the idea of supercharging, but I am dyed in the wool turbo lover since I got my TII.. Still have 4 n/a's of various years, but they will mostly like be smelling a turbo at some point in their lives..
What I thought I should suggest is that if there is an order or a want of these kits in a large number, you guys may want to consider having any foundry/machine work done in Canada, it may sound semi crazy but if it was done here, the Canadian rx-7 owners have a chance of being able to afford it, and the U.S. owners would get about a 50% price break on anything that comes out of here, due to the currency exchange.. The pipes, bending, brackets and what not can all be done in here, also I have found that sometimes that stuff is bit cheaper on the retail level once the currency is exchanged, for U.S. customers, reguardless of the place of origin of the product....Just some thoughts..Max

As I am looking at my supercharger kit, I found a few more ways to cut a couple of dollars out of SuperchargedRex's spreadsheet.

The mounting bracket I have is cast aluminum. We discussed having it machined out of billet, but I appears that could be fabricated out of flat stock with the stanchions (one tall one and a couple of stubby ones) welded on. This would make the fabrication process pretty easy. In fact someone could cut the shape out of stock at home and have a local welding shop put the final touches on it. Anybody have any thoughts?

The heat shield is basically thin stock stainless steel, available at your local Home Depot or the like for about $20.

I have to be honest - I am not worried so much about cost as I am about quality and reliability of the parts. And also about operability issues (e.g., overspinning the s/c). If Mariah were to produce the kit AND I knew they would stand behind the product, then I would order it from them, even thought it would be several hundred dollars more expensive.

Hello people.. well I am new to the thread but read everything. I guess I am looking for someone selling the charger they USED to sell (used). I know i take the chance of some guys BLOWN charger being sold to me, however still thought I would ask. If anyone knows of a individual selling one - please let me know. This is going to be a difficult task im sure.. but as you can see by my name.. i need all the help I can get. LOL Also I was wondering if the TPS sensor has been linked to allot of the "IDLE" Issues.. when I start the car and get it going... and get back down to speed it IDLES at like 150 200.... then shuts off.

Try creating a thread on the parts wanted / for sale page. You might also find someone that has already posted their supercharger for sale.

You might want to try a salvage yard as well, you never know. someone might have craashed their car and left the whole blower assembly in the car when they got rid of it.

i definatelywant one of the kits ive been looking for the past month and cannot find one i emailed mariah and they would not respond to my email im interested in getting one seriously i was even considering the one at atkins has for sale but i do not want a carburator and i lie the clean look of the paxton i tried to download the parts and instructions but had no luck in doing so please help me obtain one of these kits the price is really no problem ill pay what it takes to get this done but i want it done right also i have no air pump or fuel rails would this affect the instalation i just have the fuel line and return line off the intake all other emissions have been removed i already have a K&N filter and full racing beat exhaust if you can come up with a complete kit i will be very interested in buying one pease email me if u come up with a kit or find someone who will retail tem thanks,Dave djstdp19@aol.com

i just got a reply email from mariah motorsports they said the kit was not in production at the moment but are hoping for more interest in the kit, maybe they will bring it back,itll be worth a try to email them and get them to fix all the things wrong with the first kit and start standing behind the kit and selling it again i really want one of these kits but dont want to have to piece it together i dont have anyone around here who deals with fabricating kits much less knows how the rotary evenworks so hey its worth a try email them at info@mariahmotorsports.com

This weekend i met a guy on this forum that works in a machine shop and i asked him if he would be able to make the build that bracket if he had an autocad program of it to work from. He said yes, so if you guys are still going to go that way on making a custom bracket then he'll do it for you. his name on the forum is Moxeys93RX7.

If anyone has done the drawing of the bracket in AutoCAD, if I could get a hold of it, I could probably get some leeway, if noone else has. I'm a highschool senior, with a few years of CNC Machining experience, and depending on the complexity, shouldn't be a problem.

I am the latest victim of Nelson's poor casting of the bracket, yes, it has cracked on me. This means I have to get it replaced. I'm going to start disassembly tomorrow. Black-Clawson are closed until next Wednesday, so I'll be contacting them then to arrange for the parts reproduction. Since I have to send the bracket, I'm also going to disassemble the thermostat housing and send it. If the price is reasonable, I might have them make up spares right away. Regardless, there will be a machine shop with the measurements to make the parts you guys need. I'll post up the info as I get it.

Sorry to hear about your problems! Hope nothing catastrophic happened to the car. Would love to start assembling a kit, but I figure that there's no point unless I can get the custom parts (e.g., the bracket, thermostat housing, etc). Can't wait to hear more from you regarding the production. If you can get a lower price for multiple quantities, let me know - I'm in.

Okay guys, I know this has taken a lot longer than I initially intended, (had some real life distractions: broke up w/fiance, had to move out 'cause the house was in her name, then get the RX-7 towed to the new place, all followed by a trip to London ) but I spent today taking the busted bracket off the car. I got everything off except the thermostat housing, that's how I'm spending tomorrow morning. My goal is to get everything shipped to Black-Clawson for copying on Monday. (I want to get it out Monday, 'cause I'm travelling on business again Tues-Fri.)

I'm going to order 3 brackets, and 2 thermo housing copies to be made. (Its what my cash flow will allow for now.) I'll sell the parts at cost plus S&H. I'll post up the price as soon as I hear from B-C on the thermo housings.
