Where do you start tuning your engine (Timing or AFR)?

Hey guys,

I'm hitting back the dyno this friday morning, and have a quick question. When you guys start tunning your engines, do you normally try to find your best timing than set AFR, or the other way around. What is the easiest?

Also what kind of target AFR do you guys go for. I've been aiming 12.2-12.4

Sam

it depends on how good your starting point is really. if it runs good, and you just want to get that last 10%

if you have a decent fuel map (12.4 is on the rich side na) then play with timing a little, then once you figure that out, you can try running it richer or leaner.

peak power should be in the 22-26btdc range

yep, i'd try 26btdc, see what it does, but plan on going back to 24, and then play with fuel, if it was mine.
