i just read through this thing again, i remember when this thread was started, i guess i just never followed it because i don't remember such a lengthy discussion. anyway, you seem to have a better grasp on it than most. from what i've read on the subject of private cars being purpose-built for high speeds, people seem to follow one of two major schools. there are those that go with adequate power while focusing heavily on gearing and aerodynamics; and then there are those that just seem to bolt on a diffuser and/or spoiler or two, then throw horsepower at what they've got. if i were trying for something like this, myself, i think i'd tend to follow the first school of thought.

that said, while i "think" i know what you're trying to say about why it shouldn't matter what venue you're attending with your 200-capable car, i'm not sure if i totally agree because - at least to me - it seems the "Texas Mile"-type cars i've seen are setup vastly different from many of the Bonneville (or El Mirage, etc.) cars i've seen. i can't see any of the Racing Beat cars (any of the 3 generations) faring nearly as well in a Texas Mile-type event.

well only time will tell, it has always been a MAGIC number ,200mph in a car, there is a big club, called(DUH), a member of the 200mph club, plaque and tee shirts etc.

but the guys i have talked with are now going for 250mph.

its a virus of the EGO.

im sayin he runs outta money before 200 in the STANDING mile. with a 13b.

and when he gets done with that, check out OPEN ROAD RACING, Silver state classic challenge, many 200++ for close to 100miles of open hi-way speed attemps.

that really seperates the men from the money !

anyway keep us posted, YOU WILL HAVE A LOT OF FUN !
