what are my chances of winning this race

My brother in law has a mustang gt he had a new engine put in. only thing I can see is a air intake that goes to the front side panel, pullys and maybe headers. we are supose to race for two hundred dollars. my mods are street port motor, 1200 secondarys, lighten flywheel, non seq stock turbos ported waste gate, pettit down pipe, Hi flow cat, race beat duel tip exhaust,Pfc and comander, under drive main pully, Blitzs Smic, M2 air intake, enfini ypipe, all hard piping, Act clutch, walbro fuel pump, avcr boost guage. tuned by computer and wide band. what is my chance of winning? Man I dont want to loose. going to get a short shifter and sticky street tires

race

Check for race at cold night with 15Lbs boost.
And if possible start to race at 4000rpm in first gear ( no wheel spin).

Tell him to show up at the next SCCA autocross, and the best time of the day wins the $200, lol.

I think you have got him. A friend of mine has a 95 5.0 with a bunch of bolt on stuff, but no heads or cams, his best was a low 14. I think you should defenitely be ablet to do better than that. Let us know what happens. Ya race him at night when its cold out and avoid wheel spin at almost any cost.

Thumbs up

You will crush him. Aside from the new cobras, mustangs are pathetically slow. Make sure he doesn't think you're just racing til 100mph, either.......stay in it til the top of 4th gear. Can you say "buslengths?"

Sorry to say, but as an owner as a 1981 RX-7, i love rotaries, but the new stangs are friking fast. With a new borla exhast system, and cold air intake, light wheels and z rated tires, I can run a 0-60 in 6.9 seconds flat. Thats In the V-6 also. They have incredible torque.

Hm. That's only 2 full seconds slower than a stock FD. Like I said, pathetically slow. Torque don't mean a thang when you weigh two tons......

I think the v6 stang comment was a joke. Well, I hope it was a joke anyway. If it was it was kind of funny. If it wasn't, I guess that would make it funnier.

It kinda depends on what his "new engine" is. But really, to be honest if its N/A and on pump gas and your car runs the way it should you should spank the hell out of him....especially if you run higher than stock boost...like 14psi

Do you know if the new engine itself has any upgraded internals? If so, that could give you a problem.

This is so funny. I was on my way and my brother in law an my wifes X husband was riding in that mustang together comming to my job to race me. I was already leaving and on the streets and they followed me, drove up on the side of me and was reving their engine. Im still breaking in my engine and I am running no boost until 1,000 miles. I just smiled and drove home. I cant wait until I get this thing tuned right.

dude, you are going to kill him. providing you dont suck at driving. the fastest mustang gt in my town without forced induction runs a 13 flat, and he is a great driver. If you lose, dont bother coming back to the forum with your v8eater name. you may have to change it. good luck man, you should kill him. especially from a roll!
