I'd love those part numbers. I'm starting a rebuild project very soon. The more I save on the "every engine has it" stuff, the more I can spend on the "Damn that's a fast car" stuff.

OK here goes:

disclaimer: I don't have these in my hands to check, but I know the Teflon seals work, and I measured the oil control seals at a local supplier today. They couldn't compete with McMaster though.

Oil control:
9464K125 Dash 244 - $11.52/pack of 5 in viton

Oil control:
9464K548 Dash 247 - $11.70/pack of 5 in viton

Inner water seal:
9319K239 Dash 175 - $9.94 each

Outer water seal: square stock
9700K11 - in bulk $0.31/foot at 50 feet
The outer oil seal is rated at 212 degrees and, according to the manufacturer begins to get hard and brittle after it goes much past that. One could opt for viton in round stock for about $1.43/foot if I remember correctly. My figures indicate that 15 feet would do an engine. This is bulk stock and will have to be glued together. I would suggest cutting with a razor blade at an angle like we used to do audio tape, and glue it together with high temp silicone.

I expect the oil control rings will fit because I took the metal rings today and fitted the ones at the local distributor.

I looked the phone number for McMaster Carr up on the internet and called them. I wanted to talk to a human as I was placing the order for the first time. They have warehouses in a number of different cities.

I hope this helps everyone out. I certainly appreciate the help of RaoaryGod and rxseven in getting this all finished. If anyone has any other ideas or thoughts, please share.

So.........

I ordered all the seals yesterday shortly after lunch.

At 4:30 today, UPS delivered them. No special handling, just the normal.

I tried the seals on the oil control rings, and they fit beautifully.

I think I am going to like working with this company...........

More as the rebuilds commence.

I compared the oil control rings that I got from rotaryaviation with the old stock ones I had. You have the right number for the inner one but the outer oil ring is actually 3/32" not 1/8" and I verified the dash number as 158, 4-3/4 id, 4-15/16 od. even though the 1/8" fits better in the groove, it may make it a bit more snug causing interference with the spring action. Just speculation, it may not be big deal anyway.

Sorry but can we get a little consensus on what what stated above. Seems that some people think that the 1/8 will be too tight. I have personally dealt with a similar issue once. As some of you may know, the old like74-75 engines used those yellow oil control o rings rings. it happens that those yellow or ring are slightly larger and can only be used with the old style ring that match them. Trus me i tried once to use some of the yellow o rings with new metal rings and it was seriously impossible to get them into the rotors. So how did the 1/8 inch ones fit? Or should we use the thinner ones? Once we figure this out, if someone could re post all the part numbers, so there is no confusion then that would be great. thanks.

Actually, he might be right, should be 3/32 and not 1/8. The inner one is thicker than the outer, and I doubt the 1/8 will work on the outside good. Anybody know which part numbers are the right ones?

Hell while were're at it, why not get all the part numbers for some of the other o-rings inside the engine. Like the o-rings for the dowel pins (ect). It's been so long since I've rebuilt a rotary that I don't know what else can be ordered. If possible when I rebuild my 20b I would like to order as much stuff from Mcmaster as possible. They have excellent service.

I'm using the inner seals from Hayes rotary. If the ones from mcmaster-carr are identical, then they work great.

Also, when building my engine I was out of vaseline and couldn't find anything else to hold the seal in place. I ended up using water based KY lube. Yes, I used sex lube to keep the seals in place. It worked fine and the engine runs great with no leaks at all

Yea it would be nice if we can find the dowel pin o rings along with the stationary gear rings. do you guys think they might have the tension bolt washers or is that reaching a little to far

Coldy, you really shoulda used an oil based lube. Just cause they are both sex lube doesnt make them equal for engine use. Now on a radiator hose that wont go on, KY would be fine cause it will dissolve in water. You contaminted your oil system with KY, althogh probably not enough to do any real harm.

They might have a suitable washer BP, youd have to search for sealing washers.

I just installed the teflon encapsulated o-rings from rotaryaviation.com, and after 2 days of using hylomar and trying to get it to stay with blocks, i finally just stretched them a little by hand, and they fit. Anyone see any negative effects of this? It was only a minute amount that they got stretched, and the o-rings would just not fit! I inspected the o-rings and could see no damage, so I hope it works well.
