"up to", as in probably zero and maybe even negative gains.

Actually, I suspect that does have some effect on some cars, but it would seem to be highly dependent on the particular car being tested. I would guess that for most cars it wouldn't have any positive effect.

The dyno test on the TV infomercial is VERY hokey. If it really made power, you would think that they could have done a more convincing demonstration. The HP needle on the dyno is swinging all over the place and they don't show the RPMs anywhere. From a technical perspective, that is a very poor demonstration. And it is probably setup that way because it doesn't really work.

So don't buy one. But it would be interesting to see real dyno and mileage results on a range of different cars.

When I owned ThePartsTrader I was contacted by them wanting to advertise on the page. I thought it was complete crap so I told them they could advertise only if I found their product usefull. I even offered to pay for the parts in full. They agreed to send me one for each car I had for free. That was about 4 years ago. I am still waiting on UPS to deliver them.

A few years ago one of the smaller auto magazines (Grassroots, Sport Compact Car, etc.) had an article about that type (might of been same name brand) of product.

I remember part of the article described that the company complained about the order they were going to test with/without it on a dyno. Something about it was not fair to test with the product on the dyno first because it would clean out carbon buildup in the motor so the horsepower would be higher than normal once removed. I don't think a used car salesman could come up with a lamer excuse for the inevetable bad test results.

In back to back runs just minutes apart on the dyno the car averaged (over multiple tests) around 1 or 2 HP more. The article noted that was well under the accuracy percentage of the dyno used and was not clear evidence of any gain worth the money. And was nowhere near the gains claimed by the company.

As a side note here are some dyno tricks I have heard used by car companies and aftermarked parts companies.

Using "before" dyno figures taken at high altitude and "after" dyno figures taken a low altitude. (same type of result by just changing the air temperature at the dyno facility)

When using the same dyno the "before" figures are read at the bottom of the accuracy percentage of the dyno and the "after" figures taken at the top of the accuracy percentage.

Taking a "before" dyno reading on (low or high, witch ever fits their test better) octane gas and the timing setup as far from optimal as possible (but still within factory specs) and the "after" dyno readings on the opposite type of gas with ignition setup for best power.

You gotta laugh at those retards for making such products. They trully exploit the art of "fudging numbers"! Too bad a lot of unknowlodgable unsuspecting people get targetted by these foolish products and good advertising.

hahaha try asking batmobile about his "tornado experience" I think he told me that he called up the guy from the ad in the back of one of those rice magazines and when he went to go pick it up it was some guy selling them out of his house. I don't think it did jack.

wow i think i can actually use this for once...
