Sorry about the "What if" thread but...

I see that many near stock 3rd gen rx7's with blown engines are listed in the 5-8k range on the forum. Has anyone put an NA 13b into one of these? I understand how little torque there would be and how relatively slow it would be but for a car that is really reliable and under 10k it would be hard to beat.

The reason I am looking at this is I own an Integra Type R, which I Autox and have been getting into track days, but I am looking for a track and summer car that would be RWD, cheap to maintain, and with the best handling I can come by. For a first RWD track/summer car I would not want a lot of HP.

I guess I just wanted to run the idea by you guys and see how dumb it is, Has anyone done this?

Aside: I heard the 3 gen is lighter than the 2 gen, if thats true an NA 3 gen should be similar in performance(pwr to weight) to an NA 2nd gen.

It's not a bad idea, but the mount points for 2g vs 3g engines is apparently not the same. you could, however, rebuild the 3g engine with 2g housings and rotors, reusing the end plates which have the correct mounting points.

Most people don't see it as worth the trouble, and would rather rebuild the REW 3g rotary and enjoy another 60k miles of decent low end torque.
