Are solid corner seals needed when using large ITO PORTS?

Tossing my motor together and it's got ito ports. I don't need to use solid corner seals do I?

I won't use solid corners again.

interesting though, I never though the little insert could fall out...but I guess with the right shape port it could I used solids for a different reason.

If I were Ito I wouldn't sell a template for my ports IF they needed solid corners...unless he makes some, I haven't heard of??? Many builders don't use anything but OEM.

my thoughts and opinion

*edit - you could throw the front rotor on real quick and rotate it with the E-shaft and take a peak and judge for yourself.

You can run an early opening port w/ stock corner seals as long as the rubber insert is removed.

You may want to use solid cornerseals if you like to run tight tolerances on your side seals as when your EGTs go up and the sideseal expands it will push into the cornerseal and the stock hollow ones can crack at the base (thin point).

I have read Ito recommending loose sideseal clearances on turbo motors...

I had early opening Pineapple port that EGTs got too high on. It flatsided the soft aftermarket apex seals cracked 2 stock corner seals and broke a sideseal. Sideseals were set up to as close to 0 clearance as possible (better compression, less sideseal droop).

why dont you want to use factory solid seals they resist compressive loads far better than there hollow counterparts ?

My last motor had 3mm seals and factory solid corner seals, I didn't realize their were factory solid corner seals for 2mm seals.
