Slide valve throttle bodies

Hey, just throwing this out because I was curious. I know of various people who go and use slide valves including the Mazda Factory Race cars. I've searched around at various points and, as far as I can tell, they're black magic; noone admits to selling the setups or will say what they do internally to get it to seal right.

Now, I think I have figured out some of it, including putting the slide plate on linear bearings, but I just wanted to know if anyone actually has experience with the things and could point out some tricks in their construction. Pictures would be nice but I'll take any hints anyone wanted to give.

Of course I can wait, and thank you very much in advance.

I'm looking at a longer term project anyway; decided that a brand new engine plus an untested (by me) front suspension setup might be a bit much to troubleshoot all at once... and also that I should take a bit more time and build the pport motor as "right" as I can instead of seeing how many corners I can cut to get it done quickly.
