poorboybee, I'm talking about North America only, as stated above. Regardless, it would be interesting if you can provide us more info on all these TONES of RX-7's sporting Supra enignes.
I know of 1 for sure in the USA and that is all I personally know of.

We're talking about 3rd Generation RX-7's here, not first generation, read the title.
Is there anyway you can scan some of these articles? I'm seriously interested in gaining more info about this rare swap. Who wouldn't want a car like that!!!

I vote either Procharged or custom Turbo LS1 in a FD. Supposedly the LS1 into FD runs low 11s with the LS1 just having an intake and exhaust mod. I would imagine a mildly boosted LS1 in a FD with MAJOR tire in the back would get you into the 9.20s but probably not much better than that in a true Unibody style.
Or if you prefer a rotary i would suggest a 20B swap with a huge turbo and some gaping ports. It probably wouldn't be as reliable as the mildly boosted LS1 (assuming the LS1 you picked was not one of the oil consumers GM had such a problem with ) though.
Either way good luck.

It can be done. Check the the site www.rx7.com to see their racing car. It is not street legal, but the body is complete and the drivetrain is stock. It ran 9.62 sec. in the quarter mile on slicks and low 10's on street tires. The car is turbo and uses NOS. You can call them or email them and they will be able to help you.

I vote for putting a rotary into a vw bug! I know I will get flamed for this post but if you look at the vw drag guys thay are hitting 10's with around 300hp! the weight is the factor here where a stock bug weighs 1800lbs. you take all the crap out of it, then throw on a fiberglass front end and you will have around 1500lbs of car to push.
there is a guy here in california with a white 68 bug that runs 10.06 with less than 400hp in a full steel, street legal bug weighing almost 200lbs. there is a video on my website that shows him running a NOS'd big block camero and blowing by him!

I put a 12a rotary in my bug and it fits and is toatally unnoticable. talk about a sleeper!

there are a couple of shops i know of that will do the 20b swap. its around 12-15k for a full swap that includes a t88 a full done up motor ecu nice fmic and everything else u could want without having the motor sit in front of the sway towers. at 8 psi you can do around 500rwhp. not to bad since there is no nos and you can boost that turbo alot higher than that. second slap a nice upgraded 6 speed tranny in it, there are a couple of guys running with viper trannies i beleive. or i dont know if you can find one or have someone build u one make a 26b the infamous 4 rotor that mazda used and retired it after that year(i believe they did i dont remember off the top of my head). pm me if you want the address to the guy about the 20b swap he is in ny not to far from you.

you can get more hp out of a t88h in a 13b at 12psi then that for less money. look at rotor dee set that a good street set up the turbo is called r85 . i think for 3150 . that turbo put his car into the low nines . for the tran you can put a fully race built 350 turbo trans right up to this and put a nast stall on it proble find it for arond 1500 to 3000 fully built. with a ford nine inch rear now you cant break that . and anything that you buy for a viper you will pay big $$$$$$ for that .
