Should I buy this exhaust?

I have a 1990 RX-7 TII and I was wondering if I could install THIS exhaust system and still have my car street-legal. The Racing Beat website HERE states that it's not legal in California, but I live in Arizona and wanted to know if it would still be illegal to run it on the streets. I'm a noob to rotaries and cars in general so any good advice would be appreciated.

There's a bunch of ppyl running that exhaust. I don't personally own one(I went custom because of no emission tests here in FLA) but I like it. I think J-RAT has that exhaust on his 7, correct me anyone if I'm wrong. Oh and everyone is going to tell you to read the FAQ in the 2nd Gen section since your a noob and it'll get you the basics on rotaries.

depending on where in arizona you live you may need to have emmisons tests. what you could do that is most likley quasi legal, is get the exhaust, and install one or more universal "performance" monolithic converters. Technicaly its not legal in CA, for the visual, but having had cars which were like that in the past I never had any problems. Another option which allways passes the visual, and still passes smog without significant impacs performance or sound, is to hollow out and leave in place the factor pre-conveter (s) and put a single "performance" monolithic in place of the factory main cat. Then modify the racing beat downpipe to connect to this. This option would be 1000 times better than a racing beat cat back connected to the factory cats.

Technically no you can't run that legally here. You will need to install a catalytic convertor to pass emissions. You're going to need a lot of supporting mods to use that system without blowing up your engine. If you are still on the stock ecu, and fuel system I would suggest you retain a catalytic convertor.

J-rat...I just bought my own fd and have been trying to find out if it's legal here in Tucson, AZ to install a downpipe to replace the pre-cat? I plan to upgrade the main cat to a high-flow cat which I am pretty sure is fine, I'm just not sure about swapping out the pre-cat.

What do you know about this?

As long as you have the main cat on it should pass the emissions visual and the actual test. This isn't Cali, thank god
