Rotary engine quation

i heard that a rotary engine should last longer than a cylinder engine, is that true or what. and also heard the bigest prob is they over heat alot , so is that mean if u cool the motor down it should last longer or what. plz correct me if i am wrong.

thanks alot.

Many SCCA racers have commented that they get much more life per rebuild than the piston engine racers. Does that mean the rotary is better? Not really, it's just different.

Heat is an issue with rotary engines so that is always a goal to monitor your temps and keep them in the optimum operating range.

i dont know if u can really say one will last longer than another... its kinda individual to the specific engine. i've seen rotary engines go to 200k, and piston engines to go 300k, on the other hand some rotary or pistons die sooner. depends on the conditions its in, how well its taken care of.... but overall i agree with mahjik, there just different
