If you look at the plate right by the turbo, it says "Electric Motor Assist Turbocharger" then on the plexiglass it has 3 lines, with Hydrogen, Gasoline, and Electricity(?)

And with a little help from our friend Google, it's a "Tribrid" RX8. Gas, Hydrogen and Electric... as previously mentioned....

http://www.hybrid-vehicles.net/mazda...sis-hybrid.htm

Other environmentally-friendly and efficiency-friendly systems that Mazda is working on for future generations include regenerative braking, idle-stop systems and electric acceleration assistance systems. An electric motor assist turbocharger is being developed to enhance the efficiency of hydrogen combustion and regeneration of energy from the car's exhaust. Mazda also plans to merge the hydrogen-gasoline hybrid system with an electric motor counterpart, or tribrid technology, in order to create even greater efficiency and cleaner running systems than ever before. This tribrid technology will feature an electric motor, inverter and 144v battery and H2ICE engine. Tribrid technology will likely replace hybrid technology for other vehicles as well in the transition to all-hydrogen technology when the hydrogen economy starts to take hold.
Bah, it's all about the Turbo-Compound engine.

Theres a guy around here with a turbo rx8. Sounded pretty badass and I was told he had over 400 hp. Either way, its pretty damn fast.

^ I'm gonna call BS on that. How many 6 port motors (that are not insanely ported or whatever. Few have even ported a renesis) do you know of that are even breaking 300whp?

When the Greddy kits first came out they were running around 240 to 260 to the wheels on average. Within months there were some hitting 300. They have actually gotten in the 400 neighbourhood now.
