Question power gains from leaner A/F?

I am considering buying a wideband for myself. I have the DIY kit but its not working right and I am tired of screwing around with it. Before I shell out the money I am wondering if the gains are worth it.
Say, for now I run it rich enough to missfire under high boost/load conditions, and gradually lean it out to the point where I don't get any more missfire. Now at this point I feel like my car is pulling hard all the way to the top. I am as rich as can be while still making good power. How much is there to gain from this point? I imagine there is still some room to play with but is it worth it, or am I at a good point right where I am?
Thanks,
Cliff

just find a local shop / guy with one. and stick it in for 30mins while you tune and pay em $50. no point spending $1000 for something you only use a few times.

The problem with that is for one, its not 50 bucks here. Its 150 per hour, plus I am always changing things on my car so I would like to be able to check my A/F afterwards. The last time I did a dyno tune session it was at XS Engineering and cost me 500 bucks and a days wages that I missed while my car was in the shop, so there is more than half the money right there. If there were such a place around here where I could use the dyno for 50 bucks, I can see your point, unfortunately that is just not the case.

Ive got a few japanese rx-7 magazines and in the states, people tend to say 12 to 1 is about as lean as you want to tune it. But it seems the Japanese tend to tune the cars for about 11.5 or 11.4 to 1. When I do get mine wideband tuned, I'm going to make sure to not go any higher than 11.5 to 1 since if thats what they shoot for over there, then I'm going to follow what they tune for rather than what is assumed to be okay over here.
