Performance Alternator Question

I am new to this forum but i'm an avid poster in MNPOC and Probetalk, Now I own a 1983 Mazda RX7. 1.1 Carburated, Its My First carburated engine car i've owned and I love modding so... I'm buying Gold Battery connectors and a Chrome 100 amp alternator, is it ok to run a 100 amp alternator in such an old car or do i have to modd other things first to make it run right? thank you.

running a higher amp alternator only means you have more power at tap if you need to use it.

each electrical component will take what it needs to run and thats it.
the battery and alt usually have away of comunicating.
ie. a sensor built into the alt.

your battery will have the exact same stress' applied to it.
your alternator will just be able to provide more juice to the battery.

A capacitor would weaken the blow of very big hits by a mono amp but it is really not nessecary.

but to answer the original question you will be perfectly fine with just putting in a bigger alt.

I would be adding a wire from the alt. to the battery if you are planning on adding
more stresses to the stock wiring.
it is true that everything should be fine as long as no more than stock load is not added.
if more than stock load is added the stock wire from the alt to the battery could burn.

The stock alternator output wire will be over stressed if it actually is required to carry 100 amps for more than a few seconds.
