Owners with previously failed coolant seals?
Just trying to figure out what really makes them fail. My Fd has the original engine w/76k miles and my coolant seals are holding strong (so far). I've only use distilled water with my coolant. Please post how many miles when they let go on your engine and what kind of water did you consistantly use.

My 91 N/A went at 104k miles.. smoking started slowly and got progressively worse over the next few months. I had owned the car for about a year and a half.. maybe two, and had the coolant changed at a jiffy-type service station once. The car changed hands a good bit in its earlier days though, sat at an auction house for a while (according to carfax).. so there may have been other factors.

Thats strange! I've previously owned a 81 & 84 GSL 12a and even with 150k miles I've never had coolant seal problems. Oh I used tap water on those two cars.
