Question Oil Pump Question

I recently opened up my engine for a rebuild and noticed that the rotors in the oil pump had light hair line marks (grooves) in them , a mechanic suggested that I use some valve grinding compound and polish out these marks , I tried this and all the marks were removed with a bit of work ,now I am a bit worried about the clearances within the pump . What would you guys think? .

First off you need to get rid of your mechanic and then purchase a new pump!
