Looking For Transmission Advice

Ok here is the break down.

I have a 89 RX-7 N/A

Car is a daily driver. Trying to build a car that will get me back and forth to work, but also has some extra horse power under the hood to beat the honda kiddies and give the local big boys a run for there money.

Current problem I'm having is there is no bottom end. As my dad puts it. An open end transmission. Doesn't really grab till around 3rd and 4th.

As much as I would love to use a transmission from gurumotorsports or jerico transmission. I believe they maybe a little over kill from what I am trying to accomplish.

I currently have a spare engine I am building which would go nicely with a good transmission.

Any assistance I can get would be great.

no bottom end as in what? probably can swap in a t2 tranny, just change the flywheel, hopefully that cures the problem.....never heard of that problem though.
