.....pistons...

.....also the fact that at 15,000 your clutch/flywheel assembly would just tear apart.

yeah ive heard of them, but in order to make proper use of the upper rpm band from 10k-15k you need to upgrade to a big cam and a good set of heads. otherwise the car will fall flat on its face. Dont forget to shift mad quick yo.

no problem anytime. It would help if you THOUGHT about what he said in the first place. Rotary and Pistons... Rotary, Pistons... Rotary, Pistons... WAIT A MINUTE!!! Those 2 are complete opposites!!! That can't be true!!!

p.s. As Dave stated, please donate some of your commas.

by the way, it's threads like this that Paul (rotorbrain) was referring to in a previous thread he started up.

But then again, I'm not helping the cause by replying to this and bumping it up top. Whoops, sorry

while youre putting those in, why not do a tuneup?

check your tire fluid
grease your brakes real good
rotate your spark plug wires
add some headlight fuel

haha

(to answer your real question, a rotary can rev to 15k with stock rotors, you just need about $50,000 worth f supporting mods (clutch, flywheel, ecu, intake, porting, ignition, tranny, etc etc) there are no parts made from titanium in a rotary, nor will there ever be, it is a poor choice of material for this application.)

The other alternative is ceramic rotary piston. It's pretty lightweigt and is really strong against the heat.

That reminds me we had some chick come into autozone the other day about that, She wouldnt let us explain that someone was screwing with her. So just to get rid of her we sold her dialectrick grease with her lightbulbs.

shelbyinyoface: You must realize, now that everyone has flogged you, and beat you to the ground, exactly 14 times, in the future you will enjoy completely destroying people 14 times as much. Don't take the attacks personally. It's just a chance for these guys to feel better about themselves. I have enjoyed mocking people, and you will to!

i pull many links showing rotary piston engines, there are countless odd ball "one off" engines - I dont see the reason for making him a fool. Fact rotors and pistons are not the same, however there are rotary piston engines or such that he possibly could of been talking about.

On this link...

...they call it a rotary piston, but I see nothing that resembles a traditional piston and it looks like a four sided rotary with some trick rocking rotor faces to me.

Looks clever.

I thought rotory pistons were engines that were used on airplanes. You know, with like 12 pistons all turning a shaft in the center.

And that is a quasiturbine. That's a totally different engine. Try how stuff works .com or something. They have a pretty good explanation on them...later

But I was under the impression that you had to use the rx8 apex seals w/them. Aren't they thinner/weaker? I am probabally wrong as I have done no research on it, but I have seen pictures. I thought they were the same weight, just slightly higher compression. True 10/1...later
