Just Dyno'd my FD here's results

I just Dyno'd my FD.
Max 285HP
RPM 6100
Torque 254
A/F 11.3

The guy said I could probable get about 15 more HP if I went with a hi flow cat converter. I still have stock. He said I was running a bit rich. I was also thinking of going with a Apex PowerPC and under drive pully.
I don't race or go to the track, but I just love having her as a toy to drive on nice days.
I just spent another $2400 for SSR GT1's and tires.
I thought I was done with all the upgrade mods but if she has more horses under there I want to let them out.

What do you guys think?
Is it worth spending more money to get more horses?
My signiture shows all my engine mods.

Thanks for the comments.

Alex

Yeah, definitely get rid of that stock cat! If you have the money to spend, the Power FC would help too.

Power FC would be perfect for you. There is plenty of support around St.Louis for it

OK How much more HP do you think I can get. My motor only has <15K miles on it. So lots of life in her still.

I have to do this in steps.
Thinking of ordering cat converter first.
Then in spring Apex PC.
Each mod I will take to have dyno'd to see improvement.
I want to be carefull I don't want to lean her out and blow motor!

Actually, your dyno looks very good. What is that, 12 psi? With a hi-flow cat, you should make at least 10 more rwhp. I don't think you'll gain much power from the PFC as your A/F ratio looks pretty damn good right now -- and not nearly as conservative as I would have expected from M2. Next steps should be PFC, larger secondary injectors and higher-flowing fuel pump so you can jump it up to 14 psi for "street encounters".....

Nice numbers!

Alex, this is the sequence I would go.

Power FC>Fuel Pump>Intercooler>Turn up the boost

Basicly I have M2 Stage 3 set up. I think the least expensive next upgrade is to replace the stock cat converter to a high flow I think Bonez. Missouri emissions I have to consider. It passed emission again so far.

My boost pattern is 13 ~8 to anywhere ~ 13 to 13.8 psi

I'd like to have at least 300HP at the wheels so if the Hi flow cat gets me there I've reached my goal.

Comments anyone?

I already have M2 mid intercoller. What about a high flow cat first. Before I turn up the fuel pressure I want to upgrade all the fuel lines to braided stainless steel and replace fuel damper.

That's right,I forgot about your intercooler. If you want a high flow cat then it's going to be a little louder just so you know.It will give you some extra HP though. When are you doing all your hoses?

ok guys sorry to be a dead horse and semi-hijack this thread, but could you give me your input, based on what I have and what I can add in terms of hp/torque?

94 7 w/ 19k
modified cut airbox w/ k&N w/ shield + 10-15rwhp?
pfs exhaust +10 rwhp?
dowpipe + 10 rwhp??
bonez 3" hi flow + 10rwhp?
Total === ~270 rwhp?

*** Future Add ons ****
+ Greddy SMIC + 10 rwhp (adding boost to 12-13psi)
+ Apexi Power FC +10 rwhp (w/ tuning at RP) ???
+ 850 primaries + Walbro 255ltr/hr fuel pump 5rwhp???
-------------------------------
295 hp? (seems like I should be able to get more)

What else would I need for 320rwhp??

Thanks !

Don't now yet about hoses. But if I went for the Viper I would have to get rid of FD and FC. If there is such a think as a 2004/5 RX7 would rather have a rotary. I have to many cars as it is now. So a house with 2 car garages and a detached 3 car garage was in the plans to move to or build. Its still in the air and also depends on the market and if it gets better.

Winning the PowerBall would answer what the future I had in mind fast. So for now its just the FC and FD and my 2 car garage.

You will need about $6500.00 for everything to get 320rwhp!!!

Brentis,
I dont know if 320 rwhp is attainable w/ HF cat. I know people say it is, but I have my doubts. I had HF cat and all mods you could want(look at signature). I dynoed 274 rwhp. Of course I was having upper RPM ignition problems and way too rich. So, I probably could have gotten a little more w/ proper tuneing(probably no more than 25 rwhp, so maybe 300 w. HF cat). I put on a MP and my last dyno at too rich of A/F, I dynoed 317 rwhp. That was just adding MP and adjusting fuel cells on PFC
(but still way too rich). SO, I am hopefully going to tune to hit 330s w/ MP and all on stock engine/ turbos.
Its all hard to say. who knows exactly how much HP one can get w/ HF cat, with a good tune of PFC(so in essence the your PFC numbers could be much more than 10 rwhp, if properly tuned). I havent had a good tune and everyones car seems to be a little different w/ smae setup. Its all in the tuneing. SO, if RP is an efficent tuner, then maybe get pretty good numbers, but at pretty much base map levels, 270-280 is probably what is attainable. Tho someone did post like 323 rwhp on HF cat, and they said it was with basemap. The dyno was posted, but something was not right. I know htere are differences in cars but 40 rwhp in two cars w/ same mods and pretty much same PFC tuneing. I dont discredit(I wish I could get that) and dyno was posted, but something had to be different(most likely different tuneing). I know what I dynoed and it is statd above.
But maybe you will get lucky and get a very good tune that will yield great HP. Hope you do, so I can copy it.

Good luck,
Steve

Damn, that's a bit disappointing. My engine's about broken in I guess now so i'm going to dyno it. I have simialar mods to you plus a little bit more and if I don't put up 320 RWHP I'm going to feel really disappointed.

I was hoping for 350-360 ish at 14.5 psi which is the upper limit of what I have seen. Goodfella3s (sp?) car is almost exactly my mods and he claims like 360 or so with his hi flow which I thought was attainable.

David,
I have no doubt you will put up 320 rwhp. I had 317 and was still very rich, so there is some more HP, maybe even 20 rwhp. So, 340 w/ MP seems doable. Goodfellas has a street port, I believe, so there is more HP. I hope I can get more HP. I just need to go dyno tune it again.
I hope you do well.

Thanks. Will post when I know. I also have a Streetport and I've tuned it a pretty good bit with my wideband/datalogit combo.

Thanks Stevil for the insight! I just got the Greddy SMIC - one more down. Looking at the new BNR twins down the road to solve any hp issues!

I've got a good idea. Resource, Eric Cheatam, whoever the hell you are, answer my PMs and emails NOW. I'm not happy, and about to go public. If you'd like to resolve this privately, then be a man and stop avoiding me.

A little intrigue here. This thread's getting more interesting....
