JC Cosmo

Does anybody have any information or sites to find some info on a 1990 - 1996 Mazda JC Cosmo? Are the twin turbo motors the same as the RX7? They only come in auto and I was wondering if the JDM auto is much different than the North American version. I am doing a RHD / Motor swap and any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

The JC Cosmo engine uses the same twin turbo set up in both the 13B & 20B versions as the FD RX-7 did.

The Cosmo was released in 90 & when the FD RX-7 came out in 92, the turbo's looked the same but there are very minor differences.

I dont think you can fit the JC turbo's onto the FD engine & visa-versa without some modification.

The JC & FD auto is the same for the 13B version. The 20B auto was unique to the Cosmo & as far as I know appeared on the 4.2lt Nissan patrol only. (Jatco box) Its USA name, I am unsure of.

If there are any differences between the rhd & lhd boxes, it may be the soleniods etc on the other side but thats about it.

You can view a Cosmo web site at http://www.dmrh.com.au

Although, this site will be dead for the next 1+ ?? day as the server company is down also.

So the 1990 - 1996 JC Cosmo is rear wheel drive right? Just wanted to make sure. I will more than likely be using the 13B version. It is a little smaller which would be nice for my application and I only really want to build it to 350 - 400 hp anyway. I want the auto trans cause the RHD will be a big change for me and I would like to drive it a little. I live in the US. Thanks for posting the website. I will check it out in a couple of days when it is back up.
