What so you mean by proven information? Short of a controls experiment?

I think his point is valid, does nayone have anyone proven information on them!! whats the point in paying stupids amounts of money on seals if you engine will need a rebuild at 60-70,000 miles as the normal. I'm sure most of us have read how good they are one paper and I don't dispute for a minute there not. But there are lots of companies that promote that they have good seals better than stock, and have found that when their installed in an engine that it's just simply not true. So does anyone run these ceramic seals and if so for how long..

all i know is that i got HUGE detonation because of the **** tuning job that XS did with my pfc....I was driving at about 2800 rpms and inching on the throttle...popopopop...my engine builder was curled up in my passenger seat like a fetus...cringing...he told me right there that if I had not had the ceramics that my motor would be gone...instead...my motor is just fine.

I am convinced that the 3mm one piece ianettis saved me thousands of dollars during the tuning stage with my car. they also gave me the confidence to tune the thing myself which worked out very well...thanks to fd racer for the considerable help there.

anyhow...Im happy with them...Im not an expert...just an enthusiast with a little experience with these seals.

to me..it was worth the money....

Eric, I heard that the Ceramic seals are indeed tougher, but if and when they do blow up ur entire engine is just about toast since the ceramic seals are harder then then rest of the engine material........ Someone posted some pics a year ago that had this happened and it was good bye for the entire engine......... nothing was rebuildable and this car had a few dent marks on the rotor surface from detonation......... scary thought........

Did any one keep my original and somewhat lengthy reply. Was wondering were it went? As inept as I am typing, I'd hate to recreate it.

Rick Engman of Downing Atlanta swears by the Iannetti seals. I can't think of a better endorsement.

Unfortunately, I think it was lost when the web site had to revert to the backup.

I was talking to Rob at Pineapple Racing a few months ago, and we got on the subject of ceramic apex seals. Said that due to a thousand times better sealling in the combustion chamber it is not uncommon to see nearly 30Hp at the flywheel. Plus they are damn near industrictable, and (according to him, whom I trust very much) the will typically last about twice as long as normal seals.
The best part is that they are legal in almost all forms off SCCA club racing, including Spec7.
